Neil, thank you for sharing this resource. I am sure that other participants will find it useful in their studies. For me and having in mind my background I can see movement to "Data-Driven Learning and Assessment" and "Learning Analytics" as something happening in Aviation Safety already. There the intention is to be as proactive and hopefully predictive as possible. How about here?

  •
The highly regarded Wellcome Library in the United Kingdom has released a new web site with over 100,000 digital images for viewing, and in some cases, downloading. The images include "manuscripts, paintings, etchings, early photography and advertisements," as well as contemporary images. Available art images include etchings by Vincent Van Gogh and Francisco Goya. Eadweard Muybridge's studies of motion are there as well, as are photographs covering a wide array of topics. This new trove of online images is clearly a treasure.

It offers a summary and analysis of the current state of play, as well as recommendations for developing robust and appropriate flexible pedagogies with a view to influencing policy, future thinking and change within the rapidly-shifting landscape of learning and teaching in HE.

Sandra, thank you for sharing this report. I hope to find some good insights for our "new" topic, final project and life in HE!

The findings indicated that young people who had used Facebook (but not YouTube) for more than a year had higher scores in tests of verbal ability, working memory, and spelling, compared to their peers who had used it for a shorter time period.  - FB and other social media as a 'practice ground' for data sorting, communication and social connectedness - Also some interesting details on survey methods used.

Another study looking at the relationship between social media use and academic achievement/engagement. Interesting that here some activities are more likely to have a positive impact. Are these the kind of interactions we could encourage by embracing learners' connectedness and engagement with social media? ► Students who spent more time on Facebook scored lower on an engagement scale. ► There was no relationship between time spent on Facebook and time spent studying. ► Students who spent more time on Facebook spent more time in campus activities. ► In general, Facebook activities were more strongly predictive of engagement. ► Some Facebook activities were negative predictors, while others were positive.

Student views on mobile and innovation in learning and teaching - 0 views

  •
This blog post shares students views' on mobile learning from a survey carried out at the University of Liverpool. One of the most interesting aspects of this post is the summary of student views in response to the question; 'How would you expect to use mobile devices at University?'
  •
Thomas thank you for sharing. I wonder whether digital natives and "others" would have different opinion? Also I can not guess on how much of a difference would UG students have to part time PG students. Do you have any idea on that or maybe a good resource to look at?
