This site has been constructed by science tutors to share and support our work with science teachers in training, both primary and secondary. It is part of a wider project sponsored by the TDA (Subject Support Network - SRN), to support all tutors new to teacher training.

20/8/08 - Although aimed at American High School teachers, there are some useful ideas to: # create a welcoming atmosphere for students; # set a positive tone for learning; # engage the students actively; # provide support for students, and show them where they can find support; # encourage students to keep up and do well; and # use your time efficiently and effectively.

This online resource base for teachers has been developed by Birmingham, Leeds and Manchester LEAs with funding from the former DfES now the DCSF. EMA Online was launched in 2003 and has been supporting those working with black and other minority ethnic pupils for over five years.

A group of Herefordshire teachers are currently working on a project to produce some high quality interactive whiteboard flipchart resources to support the teaching of Literacy within the Renewed Primary Framework.

The purpose of this site is to provide stimulating, interactive resources for children in Key Stage 2 (ages 7 to 11) of Primary School. LEARNING In the Learning section, you will find specially created interactive resources written to support learning in Key Stage 2 of the National Curriculum for England and Wales. All the resources in this section have been written by myself, a fully-qualified teacher with over 17 years' experience in the classroom teaching pupils aged 7 to 13. Resources include crosswords, multiple choice exercises, cloze procedure, wordsearches, web quests, games and more.

8/5/08 - The best and most comprehensive science planning and support materials page that I have found. The planning is QCA plus (more than just the usual investigation ideas) and "oven ready" - needs very little tweaking whatsoever.

Learning Clip is an online resource to support teachers, teaching assistants and parents implementing the renewed primary mathematics framework.

The National Library of Virtual Manipulatives (NLVM) is an NSF supported project that began in 1999 to develop a library of uniquely interactive, web-based virtual manipulatives or concept tutorials, mostly in the form of Java applets, for mathematics instruction (K-12 emphasis).

Numicon Maths Shapes - Free resources for activities and displays Maths Resource Maths ideas Creating a number-rich environment and giving number a high profile is important. Children notice and take in what is around them and in this sense much of young children's learning is opportunistic as they bring together what they notice to build their understanding. Children need to be immersed in a visually rich mathematical environment which supports their learning about number. If you are thinking of making a Numicon wall maths display please see the image above for an example of how you could present it. For ideas of what resources you could put up please see the links below.

'Get Moving, Get Learning' is a teaching resource, written by primary teachers, for Key Stage 1 teachers. Its overall aim is to enable children to be more active. The resource supports teachers to increase children's participation in physical activity by sharing ideas on how curriculum areas other than physical education can be delivered through physical activities. It reflects the principles of the National Curriculum for Key Stage 1, the primary national strategy 'Excellence and enjoyment' and 'High quality PE and sport for young people'.
