An interactive White Board (IWB) or SMART Board has the potential to deliver content better than traditional methods of teaching. Why? Because it provides multi-media functional interaction across audio, video, and computer media. It is also ideal for visual, auditory, and kinesthetic learners. These qualities of an IWB also promote the dynamic delivery of content (if used to its full potential) in an engaging manner, which allows students to interact with science or math content their self. Examples include: * data manipulation * responding to data * even creating data So with all these attributes - "How are interactive white boards unsuccessfully used in science and math classrooms?" For the most part - not effectively!

Decent video tutorial on how to create a virtual tour with Google Earth. Cool idea for social studies students, or perhaps when studying famous literary authors and landmarks.

I think there are probably a lot of you that already subscribe, but I've recently joined and I love having a way to keep track of the books I've read. I highly recommend it.

It's a great way for English teachers and students to keep track of the books they've read and be able to remember them. It's also a great way to share what books you've read. You can makes groups and have discussions, too.

The collective blog of those on the front lines for Teach for America. Although I don't necessarily agree with the TFA program, these teachers are teaching students who are just like the ones I will teach some day.

This site is a really good reference for teacher so they can promote literacy. I know this is a technology class but as teachers we need to make sure our students can read well. Otherwise they won't be able to make use of the technology.

This website and others like it allow you to keep your French skills strong with daily updates about what's happening in the Francophone world.

I forgot to mention why this is so important to me as an educator, but I figured it was pretty obvious--I'm going into language teaching and if I don't maintain my fluency one way or another, my students will get nothing but repetitive and maybe incorrect phrases...short of moving to France for total immersion this is the best way to stay current with the language.

Have you heard of clickers? Use your cell phones to poll students in your class about assignments, pop quizzes, etc.

I don't think we should have students just playing games all the time, but they can be a good arrow in the quiver of teaching methodologies. This is an interesting article into the use of games to teach core subjects, like science.

A good example of a social studies video project from Brittany. The music gets too loud and distracting at one point, but if the audio was improved, I like how she gave a good analysis of a social studies topic and then showed good examples.

A variety of web resources to help a lot of different kinds of students.

This website provides free study guides for many subject areas, including Literature, US History, Poetry, and Civics. I am way excited about it, because teachers need study guides sometimes, too! It would be a great way for students to find a compilation of information to use for projects or to study for tests.
