How Zitkala-Sa violates literature norms! - 0 views

How is she different? Do most Native Americans follow this violation or do they write more traditionally?
  • Zitkala-Sa's narrative does not create a unified self integrated into a single world, but must we regard this as a flaw? I would like to posit that instead of adapting or adopting white models, as some Native American autobiographers have done, Zitkala-Sa crafts a w

This is the main point! She refuses to conform, and calls them into question.

  • Zitkala-Sa's writing does not, indeed, legitimate these institutions. Zitkala-Sa's work violates traditional notions of autobiography on two levels: it does not put forth a model of triumph and integration, nor does it emphasize the importance of language in the overall process of self-authentication.(1) Therefore it is only when we approach Zitkala-Sa's writing in terms of how it subverts traditional modes of autobiographical and linguistic self-authentication that we can come to see its full richness and complexity, and understand the unique problem of a "canonical" search for language and identity in Native American writing.

Constructivism (learning theory) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia - 0 views

  • Simply stated, it is a learning process which allows a student to experience an environment first-hand, thereby, giving the student reliable, trust-worthy knowledge. The student is required to act upon the environment to both acquire and test new knowledge.
  • According to Kliebard[2], John Dewey created an active intellectual learning environment in his laboratory school during the early 20th century. Neuroscience now supports this form of active learning as the way people naturally learn[3].

Why Interactive White Boards are Used Ineffectively in Classrooms | Teaching Science an... - 2 views

  •
An interactive White Board (IWB) or SMART Board has the potential to deliver content better than traditional methods of teaching. Why? Because it provides multi-media functional interaction across audio, video, and computer media. It is also ideal for visual, auditory, and kinesthetic learners. These qualities of an IWB also promote the dynamic delivery of content (if used to its full potential) in an engaging manner, which allows students to interact with science or math content their self. Examples include: * data manipulation * responding to data * even creating data So with all these attributes - "How are interactive white boards unsuccessfully used in science and math classrooms?" For the most part - not effectively!

To Blog or Not To Blog in Science or Math Class - 0 views

  •
The primary purpose of blog is to facilitate interaction between a teacher and his or her students. This is possible because a blog is a dynamic tool which can be easily updated or transformed as necessary to meet the needs of a science or math class. The integration of blog technology in a class requires an investment of time. Because of this commitment, additional evidence is needed to support the integration this technology in a science or math class curriculum.
