The Scottish e-Assessment Forum, which is organised and facilitated by the JISC RSC Scotland, launched on the 24th November 2011. The forum came about due to discussions I had with people from further and higher education institutions across Scotland, where it became clear that there was a need and desire for dedicated time to discuss e-Assessment and share practice.

Mobilary is a project of the Chicago Public Schools Department of Libraries & Information Services. Its purpose is to provide recommendation for the implementation of mobile technologies in our district's school library programs to successfully impact teaching and learning. Through the collective experiences of our librarians combined with action research and data collection, we will develop a body of best practices and knowledge related to these technologies.

EdTech professionals will be challenged to become a change agent within their profession by implementing education and social media marketing tools within their daily practice.

"It was the best times, it was the worst of times…." This famous observation by Charles Dickens is certainly applicable to the current status of school library programs and school librarians. On the one hand, some programs are valued and receive ongoing support from their communities. Led by competent, effective school librarians, programs such as those recognized as meeting the criteria of the American Association of School Librarians (AASL) National School Library Program of the Year Award, provide solid evidence of the positive impact of best practice on teaching and learning. On the other hand, the economic downturn, often combined with a lack of understanding or value for how school librarians and library programs contribute to student achievement, has led other communities to eliminate positions and to cut back, curtail, or get rid of once thriving programs.

The laptop untethered us from the fixed desktop location and allowed technology to become mobile. A new range of devices is now breaking many of the final shackles of computing use that were not conducive to effective educational practice. A range of these devices have been available for many years but it was the release of the iPad that has seen wide educational acceptance of the alternative mobile device.

Individual and group challenges are a great way to teach and practice information fluency. All aspects of searching and evaluation are covered by these game-like challenges, from turning questions into effective queries, picking the right databases, homing in while browsing, evaluating authors and content, and more. This website has been developed to showcase the work of school librarians in the UK. It includes examples of good practice and photos.

Overall an informative page with some good guidelines. I especially appreciate the comments about keeping the maintainance work load low. Creating a blog is a good idea, but it has not been practiclal here in China since free services like blogger and edublogs are blocked. Adding wordpress to the ISP is the best solution. I tried this at one point and the server lost the wordpress download. Time and frustration has not allowed me to try it again, but I know it will work. I'm surprised there is not a suggestion for wiki links. J. Valenza has shown that this is an easy and possibly effective collaborative process.

For Pennsylvania Librarians: HSLC/Access PA created WebJunction Pennsylvania in partnership with WebJunction, an online learning community that incorporates social software features to encourage community building. Members of the WebJunction community share their ideas and experience and promote best practices in libraries. Pennsylvania joins over fifteen other states in this cooperative educational system. Course content is contributed by the cooperative. The WebJunction system keeps track of courses taken and can generate a certificate upon course completion.
