A Cool Flowchart to Teach Students How to Cite and Credit Images ~ Educational Technolo... - 77 views

  •
"Our job as teachers is to draw our students attention to the fact that copy-paste culture is destructive and that appropriate citations and crediting back the sources, if ever we are allowed to, are two important things we always need to invoke as we are dealing with both digital and non digital content.  I have an entire section in this blog packed full of resources, tools and tips on how to teach your students about copyright, check it out here to learn more. Today, I am sharing with you this wonderful flowchart I come across in digital inspiration. You can use it with you students to teach them about the kinds of images to cite and how to do so."

Overall an informative page with some good guidelines. I especially appreciate the comments about keeping the maintainance work load low. Creating a blog is a good idea, but it has not been practiclal here in China since free services like blogger and edublogs are blocked. Adding wordpress to the ISP is the best solution. I tried this at one point and the server lost the wordpress download. Time and frustration has not allowed me to try it again, but I know it will work. I'm surprised there is not a suggestion for wiki links. J. Valenza has shown that this is an easy and possibly effective collaborative process.

"search engine for images, mostly ones that have a Creative Commons license. It's design is very attractive and easy to use. The key reason I like it, though, is because when you want to use one of their photos, it automatically shows whatever permissions are required."
