I also posted an article about Edx, a computerized grading of essays that many colleges have adopted. Now with "Coursera" which has also been sold to colleges mainly in the mid-west, it seems that college is slowly getting more digitized. Is this really saving people money if it's being sold to large universities? Will this actually give someone an equal education to someone who goes to class with actual human interaction?

I think it's interesting that this photo essay provoked a lot of thought and definitely provoked a strong mood. What I like about photo essays is that it presents what's out there (say at Tam maybe) and lets you figure it out for your self. Most articles have a definite point/thesis but I like how photo essays make you step back and think about what is presented to you. I definitely agree with others who've said that the Tam News needs to include more photo essays either in print or online because I think it's an effective method of communication and journalism.

Since the legal blood alcohol level changed from .15 to.08 in 2004, the alcohol caused death number dropped from 25, 000 to 11, 000. But what can we do to prevent even more accidents and deaths? Drop the legal blood alcohol level? What can we do, as citizens, to improve these numbers even more, how can we progress?

I think the restrictions for Bay to Breakers is justified. Making these new rules can only help, not hurt us, and the reasoning behind the rules makes sense. People usually bomb or kill people to be remembered to get attention, and clearly these people garnered much attention after the Boston bombing. So, it is completely fair that people might be apprehensive about something like this happening at Bay to Breakers. I think it's ridiculous that people might not go because they're afraid they won't be able to get away with drinking. However, being afraid of attending because of the Boston bombing does make sense.

While this change does have good intentions, like others have noted, it will probably have little effect to teens still smoking. If teens have been smoking for a year or more, they're most likely addicted and will have to find another way to get the tobacco products. It is very similar to alcohol and how teenagers have such an easy way to get alcohol (at least in Marin).

Like many others have mentioned, this is extremely disturbing and unbelievable. It baffles me that in 2013, people can still have these attitudes towards the African American race and try to justify their reasoning as a case of "tradition" and that people are making a big deal out of a segregated prom. Obviously racism isn't dead and it probably never will be, but the fact that people are so vocal with their opinion trying to fight something that is clearly wrong.

While cheating is a very "over-done" topic by many student newspapers, the topic of cheating amongst TAs is something I have never heard before. This topic really shocked me, as I had no idea students could have such access eschool etc. I think the sources gave a lot of information and though anonymous which we try to avoid, this is completely understandable in that they wouldn't want anybody knowing about this. The writer did a great job including all the ways TAs could cheat and also quoting a teacher who doesn't use a TA to grade was also informative. However, what I did find lacking in this article is administration sources. What do they think of this? What is the punishment? What is the next step after identifying this issue? After reading the article it seemed slightly empty and I had a lot of questions. Though not many steps could have been made, at least talking with a principal would have created some kind of conclusion to the subject, rather than ending with what the District defines as a teacher assistant. However, overall, this is a really great article and probably the best student written article I've read all year. It just needs a follow up once this issue is more wide-spread amongst the school and the District.
