  For those of you that participated in Bay to Breakers this year, do you think the security and new rules of no backpacks changed the experience? Were the rules at all as effective as you expected? How did your experience this year compare with past experience(s)?

  I did not participate in BTB this year for multiple reasons, one of which was I simply did not want to deal with the increased security (but as it turns out their efforts were futile). I have gone the past two years and I did not feel the need to go a third, but I now regret my decision because of the laxity of the event. from what my peers have discussed about this years marathon, there was as much debauchery this year as there is every year, and its something I look forward to participating in next year.
