The Sustainability Information Teaching Exchange - 0 views

  • Explains the purpose of the resource pack and how it works; written from the author's perspective as useful background reading for users of the pack I have a question for you, yes you! - the reader of this document: how does the work you do affect the wellbeing of the world around you? How might it affect the world in years to come? Yes I know these are rather huge questions that probably require huge and complex answers, but I think it is worthwhile each of us asking these questions every now and then for the sake of our own consciences and the world in which we live.

Schumacher College: What is Deep Ecology? - 0 views

  •
The Deep Ecology Platform 1. All life has value in itself, independent of its usefulness to humans. 2. Richness and diversity contribute to life's well-being and have value in themselves. 3. Humans have no right to reduce this richness and diversity except to satisfy vital needs in a responsible way. 4. The impact of humans in the world is excessive and rapidly getting worse. 5. Human lifestyles and population are key elements of this impact. 6. The diversity of life, including cultures, can flourish only with reduced human impact. 7. Basic ideological, political, economic and technological structures must therefore change. 8. Those who accept the forgoing points have an obligation to participate in implementing the necessary changes and to do so peacefully and democratically.

Transport Biofuels - 0 views

  •
"The large reduction in the consumption of animal products within the zerocarbonbritain2030 scenario frees up land that can be used to grow biomass. One of the uses to which we put this biomass is to create biofuel in order to power those transport sectors for which there is currently no alternative to liquid hydrocarbon fuels: aviation, shipping, some heavy goods vehicles and some farm machinery." Summary from zerocarbonbritain2030 on "Transport biofuels" a contentious subject.

An inspiring visit to Holland - Ellen MacArthur Foundation - 0 views

  • I felt a difference in Holland with the most surprising part being the language used around the subject. Merieke van der Werf, a politician from Amsterdam, talked about not just improving the current industrial system to be a bit more efficient, but redesigning how it worked so that it actually had a positive impact.
  • I absolutely love their thinking, which turns everything on its head.
