Using social media to promote my sport business, blog or website - 0 views

  •
Are you using social media to promote your business? Or your blog? Or your website? Not sure what that means? Well .... if you've ever posted an article, or a blog entry, or a forum post then the answer is yes .... you are. Social media is the name given to the now large cluster of websites that essentially have their content created by their users. These sites are sometimes also called "Web 2.0 sites" .... and without a shadow of doubt .... iStadia is one of them. Are you using social media to promote your business? Or your blog? Water Polo in Jeopardy for 2012 - 0 views

  •
Water polo is one of eight sports yet to have its funding for 2012 decided. UK Sport have said that no sport will be cast adrift -but with current funding levels water polo has already been drowned. Only sports which are 'competitive' will have a place in the Games but how can a team sport achieve the required standard with a budget that does not allow the current improvements in performance to continue?

Blogging on Peer Reviewed Research in Sport and Exercise - 0 views

  •
Practitioners in sport and exercise that aren't tied to a University don't have ready access to the latest databases and journals. When someone blogs on a subject that relates peer-reviewed research to the practical world of sport or exercise, it is very helpful. It gives someone like me a reference to explore.

Why Pro Athletes Attract Trouble - 0 views

  •

The sporting transatlantic divide (as played out on Google) - 0 views

  •
Working in a transatlantic company by day, I'm always struck by just how different the American and British cultures are - and nowhere is that much more evident than in sport. Reflecting on that, I thought I'd check how the difference in our sporting cultures played out on the internet by looking at Google Trends. Just how real is the transatlantic divide in sport? Are we really two sporting countries divided by a common language?

The BBC have announced their shortlist of 10 sports stars of 2009 who will compete for the prestigious Sports Personality of the Year Award. Although not the spectacular year for British Sport 2008 was, there are still some great performances to choose from (it being about performance more than personality).

Anxiety Interpretation (Anxiety Direction) vs Reversal Theory in Sport Psychology? - 0 views

  •
I received my copy of The Sport and Exercise Scientist in the post today, and gave the cover the usual cursory glance. My scan picked up an interesting question: "Is studying anxiety interpretations useful for sport and exercise psychologists?". So I thumbed through and found a rather interesting debate between two sport psychologists, staged by email and reprinted for the benefit of others. The debate gave me heart and caused me frustration, because while it opened up an important avenue for research and practice, they both missed the fact that a theory has been in place for over 25 years that adequately addresses all of the issues raised. That theory is Reversal Theory (Apter).

Why don't sports stars Twitter? - 0 views

  •
This morning I published a blog on CelebrityTweeter.com about the sports stars who do Twitter. This might seem like an easy task, but no, it was actually really hard to find 20 sports stars who Twitter. To be honest, I had to push the envelope (as they say) just a bit. I managed to find a Swedish showjumper and a college football coach to hemp me make up the numbers. But why is that?
