Description: This class will focus on the Kentucky Teacher Standards ( Initial Level) and the skills and proficiencies assessed in professional examinations required for licensure. The topics will include an introduction to the profession of education by examining the Kentucky Teacher Standards (Initial Level) and the necessary skills required in order to meet those standards. A variety of readings in educational research, guest lecturers, and on-line resources will be provided to students in order to develop conceptual understandings of professional dispositions and to improve the quality of professional performance. The professional dispositions, content knowledge, and readiness for instructional practice of the aspiring teacher candidate will be assessed and a program of support and improvement will be provided and monitored for outcomes. This course may be delivered through a variety of instructional strategies and methods. Additionally, the course will be taken prior to or concurrent with a Level I course(s). Luckily they are searchable by tags. I suggest joining the group (link on the right) and receiving email updates periodically that will list new links added by members.

Bringing technology into the classroom almost always comes with a learning curve. Some teachers joke that their students picked up tech skills more easily than they did, and others still just don't get the training they need to effectively use the technology tools that they are given for their classrooms. So when you get an iPad (or iPads) for your classroom, what do you do now?

Thanks Terri. I really like Diigo a lot as it is such a great way to spread the word about wonderful resources like these. I also like the weekly blog/digest that is sent it. I find it very helpful.

When you deploy an iPad in your classroom, you most likely download some of your favorite apps and load up bookmarks to your preferred web tools. Then you hand out the iPad to students and help them use said resources. Great, right? Now we're learning with gusto! Not really.
