Math Lesson Plans - 0 views

  •
Over 1000 lesson plans and units for math teachers! This website also includes what part of the standard course of study the lesson pertains too, as well as teacher feedback from the use of the lesson. I think this would be very useful if a teacher is struggling with a particular topic. They can come on this website and find a new way to explain a topic. This website also gives you questions that you can ask (sometimes higher level questions are difficult to come up with).

I thought I would choose an interesting non-teaching site today. This site is a tracker of sleep over time. This site would be cool to use in a classroom for tracking the sleep of students for health reasons, but also for math. The ideas that could be used with graphing and the use of points, averages, etc. are promising. Otherwise, this site seems kinda pointless?

TV411 - Tune In To Learning - 0 views

This site is the website for a television program TV411. It is focused on adult education in the practical basics of reading, writing, vocabulary and math skills. I found the math lessons tie the use of math in every day problem situations like buying something over time, Mortgage Basics, Using Credit Cards wisely. These are good sources for teachers to show relevency and the practical use of the math they are learning in real life problem situations.

This website allows you to enter words and then make some larger and different colors. This would be a neat tool to make posters for the classroom.

Wordle is a toy for generating 'word clouds' from text that you provide. The clouds give greater prominence to words that appear more frequently in the source text. You can tweak your clouds with different fonts, layouts, and color schemes. Math teachers can use words that appear repeatedly in their text book for whatever lesson they're doing. They can also use it for decoration in the classroom.

You can print them out, or save them to the Wordle gallery to share with your friends. This would be a good way of working with vocabulary words, word walls, or having students recognize prominent words in a text.

Since most administrators require us to have a word wall in the classroom. Wordle will allow us to play with the words by creating word clouds.

Subscription based utility for teachers to use in creating rubrics for classrrom acitivties. Potentially a big time saver for teachers in place of using Excell.

RubiStar is a tool to help the teacher who wants to use rubrics but does not have the time to develop them from scratch. RubiStar provides generic rubrics that can simply be printed and used for many typical projects and research assignments. The unique thing about RubiStar, however, is that it provides these generic rubrics in a format that can be customized. The teacher can change almost all suggested text in the rubric to make it fit their own project.
