Richard Edelman - 6 A.M.: We Will Prove You Wrong - 0 views

February 21, 2009 Richard Edelman - 6 A.M.: We Will Prove You Wrong Image representing Edelman as depicted in Crun... Image via CrunchBase February 20, 2009 We Will Prove You Wrong "Jeff Jarvis handed me a copy of his new book, "What Would Google Do?" after we finished a brainstorm on health care costs at the World Economic Forum. I have the utmost respect and admiration for the author as a visionary and change agent. He does not disappoint in his very pointed and inspirational text that is a must-read for anyone in the communications business. His central thesis is that control has moved to the people, that companies are advised to tap into the power of networks and that marketing must be based on relationships."Richard Edleman The last person to attempted to take a stab at Mr Edleman's Profession was Jason Calacanis-It is pretty hard to criticize the field of public relations unless you have a backround in Semantics,General Semantics, Mathematics,Game Theory and Statistics- Not just mouthing the words but are educated in these fields-General Semantics is a field pioneered by Alfred Korzibski and promoted by Carl Rogers,S I Hayakawa and Antatol Rapaport-and others- The map is not the territory is a remark by Polish-American scientist and philosopher Alfred Korzybski, encapsulating his view that an abstraction derived from something, or a reaction to it, is not the thing itself, e.g., the pain from a stone falling on your foot is not the stone; one's opinion of a politician, favorable or unfavorable, is not that person; a metaphorical representation of a concept is not the concept itself; and so on. A specific abstraction or reaction does not capture all facets of its source-e.g., the pain in your foot does not convey the internal structure of the stone, you don't know everything that is going on in the life of a politician, etc.-and thus may limit an individual's understanding and cognitive abilities unless the two are distinguished. • July 26, 2008 Listening, respect and teamwork Filed under: , — Scripting News @ 5:15 pm Scoble writes about Silicon Valley VC disease. I almost wrote a comment there saying that I've tried many times over many years to get VCs to invest in ideas I had for products, some of which turned out to be quite successful, but I thought better of it. Why single out the VCs, when the problem is much broader. Here's what it is, from my point of view.

June 26, 2009 API showcase: Linked Galaxy Sitting on such a powerful contextual API that returns semantic data is never easy for creative people. We announced a while ago that we output semantic data as part of our API results, meaning that we connect identified concepts to Linked Data cloud. Databases that we link to include Freebase, Semantic CrunchBase and DBpedia. In order to explore one of the possibilities that this brings to developers, @andraz created Linked Galaxy project. Linked Galaxy is a tool that uses semantic entities that were identified by Zemanta in given text and connects it to DBpedia and Freebase by following connections between them. This way it's possible to uncover underlying connections between the terms that might not be otherwise obvious to the writer. They are presented in a graph, making it easy to quickly scan the output. A text about Hudson River landing earlier this year produces the following first order graph from DBpedia:

It takes very bright people to use the principals of semantics, general semantics, and mathematics and create a Likaholix- I am sure that this site will be the best of 2009 since it has more to offer than most in the social media and micro-blogging category- First and foremost is has ease of use and guides you ,to add what you like to very well chosen categories  without wandering through useless applications and semantic jazz-I found Louis Gray Steve Rubel and Andrew Badera on the site it will be interesting  to see what they contribute-Current people on the site are really adding great data food gadgets books and more-It has a very simple bookmarking tool for Fire Fox and inside are great search applications which when you enter a URL, it gives you interesting suggestions as to media to add.* Note this is a review as a user not a paid plug- As a User I can plug what I LIKE and add it to Likaholix!

About Being Lijit ! "well-founded: well reasoned and sincere!" I have decided to add a few comments about Lijit are they award winning who knows ! Sincere is a very interesting term it can be well used or Just what I call Semantic Jazz-I have installed Lijit on my weblogs and not being a Teche I have asked for help, from most applications asking for tech support is for the most part shaking hands with and empty glove-I am beginning to think that Geeks who add contact forms add them because they have nothing else to do and feel it makes them look like they care about their clients ,I have never been refused assistance of any kind from Lijit and I full well understand tech support is costly ! I also know that  at times it may be frustrating for a professional programmer to constantly answer questions that are second nature to them !   For years I have followed the Science of General Semantics and it has a lot of teach people about communication !  The Tech Support at Lijit seems to be framed around Effective Communication !  Maybe the Folks at Lijit Read A few pages From S I ,

Having reached the ripe old age of 72 I have a lot of time to study web content platforms this is what I call blogs since the term blog,s to me is semantic jazz! For years I read Etc a magazine published by the http://www.generalsemantics.org/ I had tapes by the Late S I Hyakawa and Antatole Rapport ! Even once attended a lecture by Hiyakawa in Miami ! There are two web content platforms that are very informative which I enjoy for specifice reasons! http://www.eliasonfamily.info/blog/ and Seth Godin ! The both possess a a conversational style. This style says to the reader I am talking to you not shouting out to the world ! I had the benefit of a wonderful education and by the time I graduated high school had read Homer, John Dos Passos, and a lot of the great books ! Today a lot of platforms are being authored by Geeks who are well educated but not in the Liberal Arts ! So many write in bytes and bits ! I was banned from Mahalo for my reblogs and Freindfeed for not posting in a designated area! I was crushed can't you tell ! Most of these sites are run by Geeks who can only communicate with machines not people ! Gone are the day's when you get a well written letter on Crain Crest splattered with ink from a fountain pen !

Richard Edelman - 6 A.M.: We're Entering a New Era of Mutual Social Responsibility - 0 views

March 6, 2009 Richard Edelman - 6 A.M.: We're Entering a New Era of Mutual Social Responsibility Image representing Edelman as depicted in Crun... Image via CrunchBase I find Richard Edelman the best informed business executive on the Internet-his articles are not gotchas but based on the knowledge of an educated man-In this day and age when people think a dangling participle is an add on for an I Pod it is a pleasure reading article where lines are ragged the deck is perfect and a well executed headline-and he undestands semantic's general semantic's and mathematic's- n pedagogy, a sentence diagram is a pictorial representation of the grammatical structure of a natural-language sentence. A sentence diagram is a form of a parse tree. And Mr Edelmans Staff at http://www.edelmandigital.com/blog/ are also excellent wordsmiths- via Richard Edelman - 6 A.M.: We're Entering a New Era of Mutual Social Responsibility. Image via CrunchBase I don't ever like to see anyone fail, but I suppose success in the Digital Age has created a new set of Rules ! I have found to date a few solid efforts in the application category which I use ! Zemanta Twitter Adaptive Blue Glue Mac Journal and Evernote ! Louis Gray as well as Dave Winer http://www.scripting.com/ both give in my opinion the most honest and astute product reviews ! I feel that the most promising Firefox add on is http://www.adaptiveblue.com/ and Zemanta http://www.zemanta.com/ is a work of Semantic and Technical Art ! I find myself using Nsyght a lot http://www.nsyght.com/ I may not be the average internet user since I am 72 years old with little or no Tech knowledge, if it is not easy to use I don't use it ! I have found to use Twitter I only follow a few people ! Fred Wilson.Vc Louis Gray Dave Winer Chris Brogan Andrew Badera Guy Kawasaki Frank Eliason and Jay Rosen ! I also read Mr Rosen's blog PRESSTHINK One of my Favorite blogs is http://sethgodin.typepad.com/ The Creator Of Squidoo and blogs by people mentioned above ! Micro Blogging is hard for me to use since I live in a world of complete thoughts some times it reminds me of New Age Music no beginning no end just a middle part . Twitter does give me data but I am not overly interested in Social Media or Tech and wish they would create other streams with the application Like A stream for Literature Art etc ! Oh Yes I Follow Steve Ruble and Approve of his Messages-http://www.micropersuasion.com/ MarshalSandler.com is a playground of ideas, introductions, and synergies. Marshal exhibits a blogging style that is less about tamping out his thoughts and more about the juggling, rearranging, juxtaposing, and syndicating of the content of other people and companies - a communications cubism of sorts. There's no room for crap, but there is plenty of room for friendly people with interesting ideas. Marshal's day is the search for new technologies,
