YouTube - Primo Levi: Back to Auschwitz Part 1 - 0 views

  •
Lest We Forget- Views on Nazism and antisemitism What drove Levi to write If This Is a Man was a desire to bear witness to the horrors of the Nazis' attempt to exterminate the Jewish people. He read many accounts of witnesses and survivors and attended meetings of survivors, becoming in the end a symbolic figure for anti-fascists in Italy. Levi visited over 130 schools to talk about his experiences in Auschwitz. He was shocked by revisionist attitudes that tried to rewrite the history of the camps as less horrific, what is now referred to as Holocaust denial. His view was that the Nazi death camps and the attempted annihilation of the Jews was a horror unique in history because the aim was the complete destruction of a race by one that saw itself as superior; it was highly organized and mechanized; it entailed the degradation of Jews even to the point of using their ashes as materials for paths. Primo Levi and Italian Jew wrote the Periodic Table -Primo Michele Levi (31 July 1919-11 April 1987) was a Jewish-Italian chemist, Holocaust survivor and author of memoirs, short stories, poems, essays and novels. He is best known for his work on the Holocaust, and in particular his account of the year he spent as a prisoner in Auschwitz, the death camp in Nazi-occupied Poland. If This Is a Man (published in the United States as Survival in Auschwitz) has been described as one of the most important works of the

Micro Persuasion: links for 2009-03-17-data mining - 0 views

  •
Steve Rubel is the only source you need to learn how to mine data-Data mining is the process of extracting hidden patterns from data. As more data is gathered, with the amount of data doubling every three years,[1] data mining is becoming an increasingly important tool to transform this data into information. It is commonly used in a wide range of profiling practices, such as marketing, surveillance, fraud detection and scientific discovery. Data mining can be applied to data sets of any size. However, while it can be used to uncover hidden patterns in data that have been collected, obviously it can neither uncover patterns which are not already present in the data, nor can it uncover patterns in data that have not been collected. I reblog his articles with Zemanta and then bookmark them all-they can be the ultimate referencepoint-Mr Rubel has a very unique method of presenting his links by order of interest This is not an easy task-to build a content model- Micro Persuasion blog on digital trends, which launched in 2004, today has 50,000 daily readers and has been cited as a must-read by the Wall Street Journal, Forbes, CNET, PC Magazine and Forrester Research. In addition, he is actively followed by more than 17,000 on Twitter, writes a bi-weekly column for Advertising Age and is often sought by the press and as a keynote speaker. Having reached the ripe old age of 72 I have a lot of time to study web content platforms this is what I call blogs since the term blog,s to me is semantic jazz! For years I read Etc a magazine published by the http://www.generalsemantics.org/ I had tapes by the Late S I Hyakawa and Antatole Rapport ! Even once attended a lecture by Hiyakawa in Miami ! There are two web content platforms that are very informative which I enjoy for specifice reasons! http://www.eliasonfamily.info/blog/ and Seth Godin ! The both possess a a conversational style. This style says to the reader I am talking to you not shouting out to the world ! I had the benefit of a wonderful education and by the time I graduated high school had read Homer, John Dos Passos, and a lot of the great books ! Today a lot of platforms are being authored by Geeks who are well educated but not in the Liberal Arts ! So many write in bytes and bits ! I was banned from Mahalo for my reblogs and Freindfeed for not posting in a designated area! I was crushed can't you tell ! Most of these sites are run by Geeks who can only communicate with machines not people ! Gone are the day's when you get a well written letter on Crain Crest splattered with ink from a fountain pen !

You only have one personal brand in life and over the past 300 years Shel has built his up it is being destroyed in a quick week by someone who is lesser known. The sad part about this is…let me start this sentence again because there is more than one sad part. In fact, now that I have taken five seconds to think about it there are multiple sad parts about this saga. Featured Post by Scrivs » http://3by9.com/ 3by9 » 3 Brands vs. 1 Puppet: Guess Who Wins.

Image via CrunchBase I don't ever like to see anyone fail, but I suppose success in the Digital Age has created a new set of Rules ! I have found to date a few solid efforts in the application category which I use ! Zemanta Twitter Adaptive Blue Glue Mac Journal and Evernote ! Louis Gray as well as Dave Winer http://www.scripting.com/ both give in my opinion the most honest and astute product reviews ! I feel that the most promising Firefox add on is http://www.adaptiveblue.com/ and Zemanta http://www.zemanta.com/ is a work of Semantic and Technical Art ! I find myself using Nsyght a lot http://www.nsyght.com/ I may not be the average internet user since I am 72 years old with little or no Tech knowledge, if it is not easy to use I don't use it ! I have found to use Twitter I only follow a few people ! Fred Wilson.Vc Louis Gray Dave Winer Chris Brogan Andrew Badera Guy Kawasaki Frank Eliason and Jay Rosen ! I also read Mr Rosen's blog PRESSTHINK One of my Favorite blogs is http://sethgodin.typepad.com/ The Creator Of Squidoo and blogs by people mentioned above ! Micro Blogging is hard for me to use since I live in a world of complete thoughts some times it reminds me of New Age Music no beginning no end just a middle part . Twitter does give me data but I am not overly interested in Social Media or Tech and wish they would create other streams with the application Like A stream for Literature Art etc ! Americans' trust in corporations plummets - South Florida Business Journal: - 0 views

  • Tuesday, January 27, 2009, 3:43pm EST  |  Modified: Wednesday, January 28, 2009, 12:00am Americans’ trust in corporations plummets South Florida Business Journal Print Email Reprints RSS Feeds Add to Del.icio.us Digg This Comments One of Barack Obama’s campaign messages was the need to restore trust, and, if a new survey is any indication, he’s got his work cut out for him. Nearly two-thirds of the public trusts corporations less than they did a year ago, according to the 10th Edelman Trust Barometer. Just 38 percent of respondents said they trust business to do what is right – down 20 percent from last year. And that lack of trust comes from the top. Only 17 percent said they trust information coming from a company’s CEO. That’s lower than those Edelman measured after the Enron scandal, the dot-com bust and Sept. 11.
