Micro Persuasion: links for 2009-03-17-data mining - 0 views

Steve Rubel is the only source you need to learn how to mine data-Data mining is the process of extracting hidden patterns from data. As more data is gathered, with the amount of data doubling every three years,[1] data mining is becoming an increasingly important tool to transform this data into information. It is commonly used in a wide range of profiling practices, such as marketing, surveillance, fraud detection and scientific discovery. Data mining can be applied to data sets of any size. However, while it can be used to uncover hidden patterns in data that have been collected, obviously it can neither uncover patterns which are not already present in the data, nor can it uncover patterns in data that have not been collected. I reblog his articles with Zemanta and then bookmark them all-they can be the ultimate referencepoint-Mr Rubel has a very unique method of presenting his links by order of interest This is not an easy task-to build a content model- Micro Persuasion blog on digital trends, which launched in 2004, today has 50,000 daily readers and has been cited as a must-read by the Wall Street Journal, Forbes, CNET, PC Magazine and Forrester Research. Micro Persuasion: Three Ways the Media is Innovating with New Interfaces - 0 views

Innovating with New Interfaces Fire and Water Pendant Image by lunarpersuasion via Flickr I have seen very few people that are always on the mark Steve Rubel :-IS "Several months ago I had lunch with a major media company executive who told me that, in the future, content will not be subsidized by banner ads splashed liberally on news pages. This is something that the current economic situation is hopefully accelerating as display ad quality plummets to new lows. I remain convinced that the media must innovate their way out of this situation from both editorial and sales, but no one seems to be really doing so on the advertising side. If you want a glimpse of what's next for media then you need to really look to the editorial side of the house. As we've seen, that's where all the innovation is happening these days - and its changing how we engage with content. Here a look are three promising approaches and their potential implications." Steve Rubel TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 24, 2009 Biography Steve Rubel, SVP, Director of Insights for Edelman Digital, is responsible for keeping Edelman and its clients in the vanguard. He studies global technology, media and online trends and shapes them into actionable insights and marketing communications strategies. In his role, Rubel curates and writes a monthly white paper on digital trends. These are distributed free to clients. In addition, he draws on these insights in his role as a senior strategic advisor to Edelman clients such as PepsiCo, Zagat, Unilever, Microsoft and many others. Rubel supports the account planning processes, intellectual property development and the firm's innovation and business development efforts. He is a member of the Edelman Digital senior leadership committee. It is no secret Gotham Gal is one of my favorites and is a top content creator ! I once posted a comment on her husband's web site that I still took notes on Crain StationaryWith A Quill pen ! http://www.crane.com/ My mother was very well educated and in our house Etiquette was king ! We had beautiful Crane Note paper and I still remember even though I was born in 1936-having to write hundreds of thank you note's to people who attended my Bar Mitzvah ! I of course used a Parker 51 Fountain Pen that I got as a gift ! When I turned 21 I had my own Crain Stationary that was blind embossed with a simple line in the left hand column and the store where I bought it had to register the embossing ! The stationary got me a lot of response from politicians and other people I wrote , they must have thought I was important ! Presentation is a very important element in any communcation ! I was always jealous of my Friends who attented Catholic School since their penmanship was a work of art ! They had the Palmer method applied to their fingers with a ruler ! I didn't meet the ruler method until I went Hebrew School ! I went to Detroit Country Day School for grades 1-12 and there was a lot of pressure applied to read and write ! Steve Ballmer also graduated from that School a long time after me and I know dam well it gave him an excellent base for a career ! Most of the people at that school were Harvard Bound since the headmaster F Alden Shaw was a Harvard graduate ! Me I went to the University of Miami and majored in what they call today Communication, with a minor in Statistics and it was the fifties so we all got 5th Degree Black Belts in Rum Drinking on a beautiful island 90 mies from Miami - Viva Ritmo Latino ! A good education will help you understand the Human Condition a long with a few wacks from a good Psychiatrist ! Both these elements temper your ego and make sure you are not a snob ! The internet is young and I have found a lot of people who crea

I just installed Bill's Israel's Latest Redesigned Tumble Theme ! I like the bar at the bottom to display all information my Lijit Widget Installed beautifully ! Mr Israel is a master of Type Font Art ! I wish he would design a Word press theme ! The use of Type to display talent is an art ! He can be found @ cubicle1.com. I finished a redesign of cubicle17 a few weeks ago, and as is my policy, I am making my old theme available for free to one and all. With nicely-sized, readable text, plenty of white space, and an elastic one-column design, Simplification is not only one of my simpler themes (which might be saying a lot), but it's also one of my favorites. If you're in the market for a new theme, give Simplification a look. Update: a couple of minor issues were found after posting this, so if you've applied this theme already, please update to the latest version. cubicle17.com is the work of Bill Israel. Bill lives in St Louis, MO with his wife and cat, pays the bills by developing software, makes Tumblr Themes, and is available for client work. bill.israel@gmail.com marshal sandler .com.

The Internet Is Alive And Well (As An Investment) - 0 views

  •
The Internet Is Alive And Well (As An Investment) James Altucher penned a column in today's WSJ titled The Internet Is Dead (As An Investment). James is a fund manager and well read columnist on investing and he is entitled to his opinion. He puts his money where his mouth is. But so do I and since we continue to invest heavily in the Internet, I thought I'd take the opposite side of this debate. We (my partners and I at Union Square Ventures) think the Internet is one of those transformative technologies that changes everything. We see it like the industrial revolution or the invention of the printing press. It is a huge game changer. The Internet has been a commercial technology for about fifteen years now. And we are beginning to see the impact of it on everything around us. The industrial revolution and the Renaissance before it lasted a century or more. It takes a long time for such fundamental changes to work their way through the system and produce a new "normal".
