      The "antagonists" part of this site is an interesting contribution. On one hand, it is nice to have it laid out so bluntly but on the other, who can honestly say who the "antagonist" is in war?

    An honest and (sometimes) brutal look at soldiers' lives during the Vietnam War. There is a haunting collection of war photography and an overview of the war itself. It should be noted that this site is highly biased with a Western sphere of knowledge and should be used with that understanding. Note: pictures on this site may not be used due to copyright law.

      This part of the site is a little tricky because it requires students to have a strong understanding of what information they want to research (and what information they are looking for in the results) before using the search engine.

    The Historical Census Browser is a comprehensive data site that allows users to sift through U.S. census information collected between 1790 and 1960. There are clear categories with which to search and the limitations of the search are defined on the home page. This site would be a great introduction search tool for lower-level soc stud students

      Links are lacking and there is no way to suggest additions (unless the user uses the "contact" info on the website). The lack of links and citations makes this site particularly difficult for research use.

      I particularly like the formats of these maps. The only disappointing part is that the maps only cover 1820-1939. It would be interesting to see colonalism covered in some of these contexts as well

      This is a great site for visual learners. Being able to see political and culutral transformations of continents is an incredible tool for students of all ages. Unfortunately, not all maps on this site are free. There is a nominal fee that charges for acess to more obscure maps.

      This would be a good "jumping off" point for a discussion on what it means to protect a culture and how a culture can be threatened. I would definitely use this in any middle-high school course

      Hidden in this tab are chances for students to get involved in policy discussions across the world. For example, the Ibero-American Youth Forum was just held in Seville, Spain for spanish speaking youth interested in discussing global tourism and global landscapes. These are great opportunities to get students involved in international issues.

    I absolutely love the UNESCO World Heritage Center website because it offers thousands of ideas for out-of-class exploration of cultural sites. All you have to do is click on the World Heritage List and scroll to your country's list of locations. You can visit most of these sites free of charge and they offer tours and kid-friendly information on the site. This site could also be used as a way to formulate upper-level discussion about what culture is and who gets to decide what cultures (and what parts of a specific culture) are worth saving.

      The levels on this game are a little tricky-- I would try the game first to determine which level is best for your students. Even though I know where all the states are, it requires you to be very precise.

      I don't like that this is all the way at the bottom. If you use this in the classroom as an interactive learning game, make sure you scroll down the page so you can see the state facts. The game is a little bare without the extra information.

    This site is, overall, a little boring but it does what it's supposed to do. Sometimes getting students interested in geography is tricky but this game could increase student interest. Students will select a level, then drag and drop the states to their correct location on the map. There could be a little more information about each state (just to increase the amount of learning) but this is generally a good, basic, online learning game.

      Check this out! It's one of the best European history sites for kids I've found. Challenging activities for all age groups. I would definitely use this in an elementary classroom as a "free time" activity or suggest it as a resource for students looking to write papers on the subject.

    Website with infinite information on the First and Second Napoleonic Empires.

    Even though Napoleon's empires often get skimmed over in world or European history courses, this website makes the subject worth an extra day or two. There are easily comprehended histories, research databases, pictures, and even a "kids' corner" that is accessible to even the most reluctant student.
