Sync teaching using technology is valuable because the analogous method of sync teaching without technology is effective. The appropriate enabling technology, especially when combined with the “abundance of engaging and flexible learning resources on the Internet,” becomes a way to amplify a tried and true method.

many Web 2.0 tools to help students with the research process. Some tools are selected to make the research process more transparent and to allow us to give feedback during the process. Some are used to help students keep track of sources. I’ve listed them and the way we use them below. I’ve tried to give a brief description. It may seem like a lot of tools but we tend to believe that one size doesn’t fit all and the overarching skills supersede the tool itself.

There’s always going to be a demand for an adult to be leading child instruction. They’re needed for the feedback piece, or the compassion piece, or the guidance piece. Besides, parents will want that; they feel most comfortable with that.

The program has to be mission-driven.

Right now, we’re in a murky, gray area when it comes to blended learning. In 20 years, we’ll have some tried and true methods. Right now, it’s just messy. And schools have to be okay with messy, with not smooth.
