If we consider that learning is a process centred on the individual, driven by a complex combination of motives, linked with projects and expectations, it is important to understand the reasons that can drive adults towards learning. A deeper look into the motives for pursuing learning in higher education shows that adult motives are plural and related to the specific period of each person's life story (age, employment situation, etc.). Results of this research highlights that there is a strong relation between epistemic motives, higher levels of education and training, and interest in pursuing learning.
