Download this free app for your Google Chrome browser. Within Google Docs a TextHelp toolbar provides many features including: highlight and read text, dictionary, picture dictionary, translater and collect highlights. While there are some glitches - I noticed that the highlight and collect feature didn't always pull what I highlighted - this free tool is a great additional to supporting students reading and writing.

"Highlight the text to read aloud, and select "Start Speaking Text" from the right-click menu. If you just want to make it read out single word, you don't really need to Highlight the word, because SpeakingFox picks up the word under cursor automatically."

Students can collect links, highlight text and collaborate with peers using Diigo. (*This is a great tool for research projects)

Amazing resource for educators. Each category (blogging, wikis, social bookmarking etc…) has 5 recommended tools highlighted to try out first. Great place for educators to start learning a new tool.

Great site with many articles related to health, safety and fitness. The site is available in Spanish. Many articles can be downloaded in MP3 format. A built in screen reader (that highlights) makes this an excellent site as it models many UDL principles.
