YouTube - The Evolution of Remix Culture - 0 views

Remix Culture: Part 1 of 3. At about 8 minutes this is a great intro to remix culture.  What is remix culture?  From my point of view, it is the recontextualization of information which results in increased meaning.  By drawing upon part of our shared cultural heritage (a song or video) and mashing it up with either another part of our shared culture or content created by yourself (or friends),  people are now able to leverage both content areas to make ultra rich content. Kind of like when you watch "The Wizard of Oz" and listen to "Dark Side of the Moon"

Key Strategies Brief - 0 views

  •
    1. Establishing where learners are in their learning 2. Establishing where they are going 3. Establishing how to get there. By considering separately the roles of the teacher and the students themselves, Wiliam and Thompson proposed that formative assess- ment could be built up from five "key strategies."

Interesting. Are men/boys motivated by the technology tools more than women? Why?
  • And in order for it to be effective, faculty and staff need support so they can implement tools in relation to learning, not just to implement the tools for the sake of the tools.
