This is a MUST read!! This is an incredible story of a woman who can smell Parkinson's disease. After making this assertion, some scientists came up with an experiment to test her claim. Her smell could be a breakthrough for finding an early diagnosis of Parkinson's disease.

How interesting! I wonder what it is that creates the particular odor? Sounds like additional research is called for here.

At Atlanta's Washington Park Pool, Anne Dunivin slowly and gingerly makes her way into the water. She says, "My girls get me to the pool, twice a week. And I swim for at least half a mile. I swim laps, from that end to this end and then back."

To go along with the studying on the ageing adult we've been doing. This is proof that slowing down is inevitable, but the healthy adult can be active for many years.

Ok, I admit when I watch this special guy on the stress video Teri posted I couldn't help but think about his life and how things clicked for him? I looked a few more of his vidoes and found he was married and is a very sexual little person. So, I wanted to share what I found. :)

When I saw that we would be talking about RA in class I started looking into it more. My sister who is only 20, was told by her doctor that she may have RA and they are currently doing further testing. At first I thought "there's no way" shes only 20! But then I did some research and found this article. RA is actually fairly common in young adults, especially women. More specifically, there is a 1 in 714 chance for a woman in her 20s to develop RA. This article goes into more detail about these statistics and the cause.

I read in a Health magazine just last night that taking or if you have taken birth control pills, it helps guard against RA.

In this short video an individual explains her experience with the Orgasmatron. The device is placed on the spinal cord and releases electrical pulses that can be adjusted to increase or decrease stimulation and intensity. The individual describes her experience to be "the most fantastic sex". This device has helped increase the bond between her and her husband. An anesthesiologist describes how a set of electrodes stimulate the spinal cord to increase the pleasure of sex for a woman by increasing her level of arousal and capacity for orgasm.

These hands are usually about $150,000 each but she gets them for free for being a spokesperson. She is excited and getting ready to pursue a second degree...at the time this was done. Nothing is stopping her.

I posted this video on facebook. Some people left mean comments about it but I still think it is a wonderful invention. It states in the description that it is not meant for highway use. It has given this woman back some of her independence and I think it is worth it. No, you probably do not want to drive down the interstate with it but it;s great for getting around town at a slow and steady speed.

This is to neat! Slow and steady is good, and getting some independence back in a very healthy thing for a person who is wheelchair bound.

This movie is about a young woman with Down syndrome who gets pregnant and acts against all societal norms by fighting to keep her child. Unfortunately, the movie is in German, but even if you do not know the language, you will understand the plot.

This is a great resource for travelers with disabilities. There are many travel tips including talking to the service providers before the trip and be specific about your needs. It reminds you to be prepared and to know your rights. Embedded in the article is a guide to the rights of disabled travelers. Included is a list of resources and websites with a short description that really was helpful and easy to navigate. At the end of the article there was a place where one can share their own travel tips.

I really thought about this website when I was checking out of a hotel yesterday and saw a woman coming out of the hotel in her wheelchair and her husband was carrying all her adaptive equipment to make travel easier for her. Travel is something as OTAs that we need to think about when we are identifying clients 'occupations'.

This was a great article about a woman who is an OT and her insight to working with people with UE Amputations. The article had great information about what OT is all about and how she and her team helps those with UE amputations.

All be it a superficial treatment, incredibly healing for some people.
