Home :: The Fontana Center :: Center for Work Rehabilitation - 0 views

  •
This is a link to an awesome website for The Fontana Center.  The Fontana Center is a center for work rehabilitation.  It is owned and run by an OTR and also hires COTAs, massage therapy, and fitness experts.  This place is very holistic.  It offers seminars and workshops on ergonomics and preventing work place injury.  It also prescreens employees for companies to make sure their candidate can handle the physical aspects of the job that they are applying for…this saves the company lots of money in the long run.  The facility offers functional capacity evaluations and work hardening programs.  It also has fitness classes including water aerobics/therapy, yoga, and even classes for seniors.  This is great for fall prevention! I love this place…I wonder how many places like this exist in the US?

I Am an Older Adult or Caregiver - 0 views

Who would have thought a National Council on Aging! There are all kinds of resource linked to this sight. I can see how this could be a great resource for those who are aging or caring for those who are. If you scroll down to the section on "I want to stay healthy" you can click on a list of ways to "restart living." This section helps those who may need to re-evaluate their life and provides direction to encourage them to recognize that they still have something to live for

I found this article when I was making my marketing webpage for practice management. A lot of children who are effected with long term illness or disease fall behind in their development. Occupational therapy helps them catch up and reach important developmental milestones so that they may be more successful in play and learning. This pamphlet is for parents of children at St. Jude explaining what OT is and how it can help their children.

Anti-Gravity Treadmill - 0 views

This treadmill was originally made by NASA to help prepare astronauts for space. I was looking up videos on modalities and this popped up! Even though the talker in the video is a PT I thought it would benefit us to know what technology is out there. This video describes what the treadmill is for and how it works. My husband actually had this done when he had a thousand pound beam fall on his foot and it definitely helped him go back to his typical gait.
