Beginning in Fall 2014, the College of Engineering will offer an M.S. and PhD. in Robotics. The proposed program will be part of an interdisciplinary effort to bring together the many disciplines that contribute to research on robotics. Robotics is the design, creation, analysis, and use of embodied computational systems that interact with the physical and human environment.

Founded in 1962, The Stanford Artificial Intelligence Laboratory (SAIL) has been a center of excellence for Artificial Intelligence research, teaching, theory, and practice for over fifty years. SAIL has pioneered or advanced a number of breakthrough technologies including timesharing, expert systems, computer music, public key cryptography, autonomous driving, and massively open online education.

The Robotics & Mechanisms Laboratory at Virginia Tech is a facility for graduate and undergraduate robotics research and education with an emphasis on studying novel mobile robot locomotion strategies. Our research interests are in the area of Robot Locomotion and Manipulation, Kinematics and Mechanisms, and Autonomous Systems.
