In the world of video games, very few companies have been as successful as the video game juggernaut we call Nintendo. They've produced brilliant consoles, and brilliant video games in the 2 decades they've been releasing them. They have a lot of them, but which Nintendo games were the very best?

It's probably been a while since most of you have played a Nintendo 64. It has since been succeeded by the GameCube and Wii, but many gamers still have one, either one that they use, or one lying around somewhere. Also, many great N64 games are available on Virtual Console on the Wii, making it easier to get your hands one them. So, it's a good idea to know the top picks from the golden age of gaming.

The first person shooter game Golden Eye, based off of the James Bond story, seems to be amongst the top titles celebrated from releases for the cartridge based video game system the Nintendo 64. However, I never really got into the fad of playing that one and really in general tried to keep my interactions with the Nintendo 64 to a bare minimum. However, one of my siblings owned the machine and thus on occasion I would find myself playing on it. Here are the top five games, picked by me, based on what I had fun playing.

One of the greatest old school video game consoles to ever be created was the famous Nintendo 64 console. This console was created as a "one step above" console to topple its Sony Playstation rival. It didn't necessarily topple it, but it did make some amazing games that really pioneered its respective genre to a whole new level. This was Nintendo's last attempt to compete against the disk drive platforms with a cartridge platform. If Super Nintendo was only slightly better than the original NES then the N64 was light years ahead. entire 3D worlds could be rendered. Another part of the systems success was the expansion pak, a brand new more advanced processor that could be installed into the game to allow you to play more advanced games. Had the system lasted longer they may have introduced a second more advanced expansion pak. So what were it's five best games?

Video game fans love to tell each other about great video games they've played. Some times it's obvious which games are the most popular based on how much they are talked about but there are some exceptions. A lot of video game fans might be surprised by some video game sales facts. Some of the video games that are loved by your peers don't actually sell that well and some video games that are hardly ever talked about have sold great.

The days of the Super Nintendo Entertainment System, or SNES were key formative years of my youth. I spent hours playing Super Mario World, Donkey Kong Country, and dozens more classic platform games.
