When the Super Nintendo video game system was on the market, battling it out with the Sega Genesis system, I owned a Sega. However, I had friends who owned the Super NES and from time to time would play it. Comprising a very long list of Super NES games would be difficult for me, but I can list the three that I remember the most. On the Sega Genesis I enjoyed a variety of game styles, but most of my friends were into fighting games. So, when I was watching other people play the Super Nintendo it tended to be one of the Mortal Combat games getting shown off. Below are the top three games I enjoyed playing myself.

The seventh-generation video game consoles have standardized a number of new video game features, including downloadable content, online play, wireless controllers and motion control. I never thought I'd write a "top ten" list, but I figure that out of the over three hundred articles I've written for this site I'd be safe with this list that will probably contain around ten entries. 16 bit systems are certainly a thing of the past, a relic of the early 1990s that someone with an X-Box would think came out of the 1970s. In the early days of video games beat 'em ups were very popular. From the beat 'em up genre came another sub-genre called hack and slash games. Hack and slash games are similar to beat 'em ups in that the game is mainly just a bunch of button mashing as you fight a myriad of enemies at once. The difference between a hack and slash game and a beat 'em up is that typically beat 'em up games require using your fists and feet and hack and slash requires using a sword or knife for most of the game. From Nintendo to XBox and More

No one will ever be able to agree on a list of the best video games of all time. But I think I can make one that at least some people will like. After all, there are, in my opinion, certain obvious games that can be appreciated by everyone.

Earlier this year MSNBC.com listed the five video games that they thought were the most addictive video games of all-time. There were a couple of video games on their list that I thought were good choices and a few that I didn't agree with. I thought I would make my own list of what I think are the ten (technically twelve) most addictive video games of all-time. These aren't necessarily just the games that I personally found most addictive because then the list would have to include games like Monster Rancher, Suikoden, Double Dragon, Pirates! and others. These are games that I think are generally addictive to everybody. I'm sure some of you will have different opinions though.

The RPG genre is without a doubt the most complex genre of video games. Games range from futuristic battles between spaceships to hack-and-slash games in the distant past, and games set on completely different worlds. Games take place on your own, with single-player campaigns that can last tens or hundreds of hours, but also online, with quests that are accomplished together with a team of hundreds of other players.

The 1980s were the glory days for arcade video games. Sure, we've got virtual reality and movie-level graphics on today's arcade consoles, but where's the love? You will have noticed, no doubt, that it has been a long, long time since an arcade video game became a pop culture icon. Donkey Kong inspired a dance, Pac-Man inspired a song, and even Lou Reed included lyric about putting money down on Robotron. The new video games may look better than the classics, but why is the most successful movie ever made about video games dedicated to two guys trying to set the world record for Donkey Kong?
