Economical appeals to your logic as when making new decisions you usually decide what is the most cost effective way. You dont want to buy a new product if its going to cost more than what you already pay.
  • If you can smell fragrance on your clothes when you get them out of the dryer, you are using too much detergent
  • Overuse of laundry detergent is not only wasteful and expensive, but very harmful to our environment and our health.

Logic as "using too much detergent is expensive", and emotion appeal as using too much is bad for the environment, and you using too much is the reason.
  • The Solution: A big step forward in removing harmful chemicals from your home, body and environment is going detergent-free. After washing a fabric a few times with SmartKlean, you can completely eliminate all traces of detergent. With SmartKlean there is no need for laundry detergents, fabric softeners or dryer sheets. Our laundry ball is designed to wash effectively, leave clothes soft and leave zero residues behind on clothes and linens.  For those with skin sensitivities or conditions such as eczema, SmartKlean is ideal. It is important to note that even the trusted eco-friendly, hypoallergenic laundry detergents may contain SLS and SLES and other harsh chemicals. In addition, many soaps found in grocery stores contain additives that can still cause skin irritations. Although there are safer alternatives such as true soap, the easiest to use and by far the most economic choice for cleaning laundry is the SmartKlean Laundry Ball.

Because it lists in the previous paragraphs what is wrong with normal soaps, promoting this alternative option appeals to character as this company product must be good because it doesnt do all the harmful things that were listed before.
  • Then there’s eczema. Throughout the world, many people suffer from this condition. In the US over one billion dollars a year is spent trying to fight its effects. Sadly, many of these are children. 90% of eczema sufferers experience symptoms before they reach the age of 5. A common type of eczema, ‘irritant contact dermatitis’, develops after frequent exposure to a mild irritants such as detergent.

appeals to logic by telling you facts about a problem that is caused by too much irritants
  • The Problem: Regular laundry detergents leave residue in your clothes and linens each time they are washed. It is easy to verify this by smelling them. After eight washes, two percent of a garment’s weight comes from detergent residue. For people with skin sensitivities, this residue can not only cause severe skin irritations, but can also cause fabric to stiffen when it dries. Because of this, fabric softener is used to lubricate the fibers in order to make the fabric move freely again. Although it takes care of the itchy, stiff fabric, it only adds to the pile of chemical residues.

appeals to logic, as it gives you examples of what you have experienced at home. also appeals to emotion as you are becoming aware of the true cause and harmful effect of what you experience in laundry

Challenge Nike and adidas to cut the chemicals and detox our water - 2 views

  • Who will rise to the challenge and champion a toxic-free future? During a recent investigation, Greenpeace identified several major international clothing brands, including the sports giants adidas and Nike, linked to facilities in China that are releasing toxic chemicals into our water. Unfortunately, these facilities are just the tip of the iceberg. Across many countries, hazardous  chemicals are being released into our precious waterways, poisoning our water and threatening people and wildlife.Like any

  • As much as 70 percent of China's rivers, lakes and reservoirs are affected by water pollution. During our recent investigations, Greenpeace identified links between a number of major clothing brands and textile factories in China that are releasing hazardous chemicals into our rivers. These chemicals are a serious threat to human health and the environment. Some are known hormone disruptors, whilst others can affect the reproductive system. Many of them don't break down in the environment, but instead build up in the bodies of animals and humans.

Appeal to logic and emotion. By using these facts and statistics, Greenpeace is trying to engage the reader rationally and emotionally. As these chemical do not break down, we are now conscious of the fact that their presence is going to be a long term problem. Furthermore, Greenpeace states that these chemicals disrupt hormone function, making the situation more real and personal. Lastly, Greenpeace makes this issue hit home and persuades the reader to realize that this is not just an issue in China. Rather, across the ocean in North America, we too are affected by the use and release of these chemicals into water. The statement that these chemicals have been detected in polar bears makes the reader realize and question whether is it in our water as well

The intended audience of this video is young and active and are most likely to purchase merchandise from sportswear companies. This video uses a lot of symbolism as adidas and nike logos are prominent throughout. Furthermore, these companies' symbols are found in close proximity and correlation with the Greenpeace detox logo (asian style character "x") symbolizing unit between these companies and chemical free/reduced use.
  • If Nike and adidas learn from any of their champion athletes and superstars, they will know that every setback, every mistake, every wrong decision provides an opportunity to come back stronger than ever before.

After voting the polls become visible. I believe that the intended audience is actually Nike and Adidas themselves. It becomes a motivating factor for these companies to change as the winner of the poll is motivated to not disappoint its voters and the loser motivated to prove otherwise

The green ball appeals to your logic in understanding that green things are eco-friendly. The pictures of the minerals inside the ball help you understand that there is something involved in cleaning your clothes, even if it is not detergent. Your brain understands that a substance of some sort will do cleaning while an empty ball would not.

what is yoga? types of yoga, videos & more | lululemon athletica - 2 views

shared by Jovan Gill on 03 Dec 10 - No Cached
  • Yoga energizes our bodies and calms our minds.
    • Jovan Gill

This simple statement is very powerful. By claiming that yoga energizes our bodies and clams our minds will appeal to many people, as everyone wants peace of mind and an energized body.
  • yoga quickguide
    • Jovan Gill

A quick and easy description of the different types of yoga is a definite attraction. One doesn't have to read the complete pararaphs below to get small description about the various types of yoga. One can also find out what types they are interested in and then read in further detail about those certain types.
    • Jovan Gill

The video showcases a certain type of yoga, which catches the eye and appeal of those watching. If you watch some of the video you can't help but wonder what it would be like to try antigravity yoga, and how much a hammock could make a diffeerence in your stretching compared to just the sterotypical on the ground yoga.

  • This practice is very athletic and made up of six vigorous series of postures
    • Jovan Gill

This type of yoga attracts those who are looking for a high intensity workout, and maybe did not expect that yoga could be a very athletic activity.By putting very athletic and vigourous in the same sentence a picture of a tough but appealing activity comes to mind, well appealing for those who want a intense workout.
  • Heads up - humidity is 40% and will knock you over the first time.
    • Jovan Gill

By saying that the humdity will knock you out the first time, the reader knows that this type of yoga is not for those who are looking for a leisurely activity. It attracts those to it by clearly saying "Heads up", which implies an important point that should likely not be missed.
  • By adding heat it is said that classes will help you lose weight, loosen your muscles (by adding increased range of motion) and improve your cardiovascular system.
    • Jovan Gill

By simply adding heat to yoga, so much more is achieved from exercises. Many people do yoga in order to lose weight, and by adding heat that goal can be achieved all the much easier.
  • Don't be surprised if your waving your hands like you just don't care or laughing uncontrollably, this practice is intended to wake up the kundalini energy coiled at the base of your spine while activating chakras (energetic centers in the body), as well as detox the body and mind.
    • Jovan Gill

This paragraph gives a different aspect of yoga that most people don't think about. "Laughing uncontrollably" and "waving your hands like you just don't care" imply a fun and energetic workout, which attracts anyone that wants to have a good time. It's a great thing that kundalini yoga awakens the energy coiled up at the base of your spine. So you get energized and receive a detoxification of the body and mind.
  • Remember: your body is your best guide. You don't have to stick to one kind of yoga, just do what your body needs!
    • Jovan Gill

This sentence relieves any tension or stress one may feel when they are thinking about taking up yoga. It tells the reader that if you don't feel right about doing a certain type of yoga, try a different kind. There is no pressure to keep up with the same type of yoga if your body doesn't feel right doing it. This lessens the anxiety most people feel when they are considering taking up a new activity.
    • Jovan Gill

In this picture a sense of community is felt. The many legs with black yoga pants on top of the colourful yoga mats with a sunset in the background give a sense of happiness and belonging. Everyone is doing the same pose which shows that anyone can do yoga. Since only legs are shown and no faces or bodies, it implies that it doesn't matter what race, age, sex or athletic ability you are, anyone can participate in yoga and become a part of a community while getting healthier.
    • Jovan Gill

In this picture the bright colours of the woman's clothing and the prop that is helping her with her yoga poses immediately grabs the attention of the reader. Her closed eyes imply a relaxed state, which shows that props help enhance a peace of mind and serenity.
    • Jovan Gill

The lush green field with the three people doing a sun salutation makes most people want to be there and do yoga. The bright sunlight in the video, with a luscious green field act as a open invitation to those who want to practice yoga. And in this video they are teaching the perfect exercise for that scenery, the sun salutation.
    • Jovan Gill

The light pink/peachish colour brings the readers attention to this quote. On a page that is full of black text on a white background our eyes are drawn to the saying which sticks out like a sore thumb on the web page. Also the swirly type text pulls in the reader, since the rest of the page has a standard text that is easy to read but not nearly as appealing. This quote changes everytime one opens the page, and it is also a part of the lululemon manifesto. These quotes appear on many pages of the site, and they are the attention grabing text on every page.

complimentary yoga classes | the gift of yoga from lululemon athletica - 0 views

  • Can change the world.
    • Jovan Gill

Claiming that something can change the world is a very powerful statement. It immediately gets people thinking of how yoga can change the world as well as catching their interest in yoga. Many people do countless things in order to invoke change, whether that is on a global level or a personal level. By claiming that yoga can help change something it gets people to wonder how their lives could change just because of taking up yoga.
    • Jovan Gill

In this picture we see a yoga class being held in a lululemon store. The background contains colourful clothing, where the main focus of the picture is people participating in a yoga class. By showing that just becuase lululemon is famous for their yoga equipment they instill a healthy lifestyle which includes yoga in all their employees. People are more inclined to buy lululemon products because they feel that the company not only has fantastic product but are behind their products one hundred percent plus the lifestyle that includes those products.
