The White guy is on a quest to act like the stereotypical Black male. His clothes and accessories are very stereotypical of Blacks, including bling, baggy clothes, and a backwards hat. He throws up gang signs and has hydraulics on his convertible. The girls in the video are represented in a sexual manner and most are either Black or Latina. Blacks are suggested to be great at break dancing while Whites can't dance. Overall, it is conveyed that Whites are just not as cool as Blacks.
In this music video both the homeless people are black. Also, the police are all white. Moreover, the black rappers portray themselves in a "ghetto" and as the originators/leaders of hip hop. The hip hop wanted pictures are all of black men.
I just this video because I assume most people will try to find a rap video that has an interesting representation of African Americans. When thinking about other races I could try finding videos about, I remember a video my friend had shown my a long time ago, and thus, chose to post this. As the title would suggst, this video is very pro Asian, and pretty much says White people will never be as good as them and/or accept their culture.
This video portrays blacks negatively. The males are portrayed as misogynists, and the females don't seem to mind. Also, bandanas are carried around or held at the waist, which is reflective of gang violence. This video may also be seen as reaffirming blacks as oversexed.
Danity kane is a group that was PUT TOGETHER and it has a bunch of racially diverse girls. same with the spice girls. i don't think there are many other groups that are diverse if they put themselves together.
Here is a video that talks about racism for the jewish people. some interesting lyrics are:
"We've been traveling from state to state...
...3,000 years with no place to be
And they want me to give up my milk and honey
Don't you see, it's not about the land or the sea
Not the country but the dwelling of his majesty"
He is saying that the land is important to the jewish people for more reasons than just the land or the water.
"Burn in the oven in this century
And the gas tried to choke, but it couldn't choke me...
...Erase the demons out of our memory
Change your name and your identity
Afraid of the truth and our dark history
Why is everybody always chasing we
Cut off the roots of your family tree
Don't you know that's not the way to be"
Here he is saying that it takes more to be strong than just erasing the horrible past of the jewish people in israel, and also the present.
-written by George Greene in response to an article written by Michael Sullivan -rebutts Sullivan's article by pretty much telling the situation as it is -- how there still is prejudice in the world and how race is completely tied into it.
This article chronicles the foundation for the Jena 6 case. It involves the provocation of the black students by white students with the hanging of three nooses under the "White Tree." This led to violence against blacks by some white students, moving on to retaliation by black students. After this event, an assembly was called in which black and white students sat on opposing sides of the gym. The District Attorney turned to the blacks and said "See this pen in my hand? I can end your lives with the stroke of a pen." The first to be tried in the case of the Jena 6 is Mychal Bell, who faces 22 years in prison on a 2nd degree battery charge.
I gathered from google search that this is a website for the American National Socialist Workers Party. Soon after news of the Jena 6 broke they had numerous racist and grotesque articles in support of the action and charges the youths face. The later went on to talk about hatred toward Jews, "kidnap famous Jews". Just another reminder that racism and racial conflict is very much alive and organized, even if it doesn't rare its ugly head frequently. The site is currently "down" and as such their ellaborative website has been degraded to predominantly a body of text.
Interesting thought by Jackson - how much does timing affect the attention to issues?
"I believe in people standing up for what's right," said resident Ricky Coleman, 46, who is white. "What bothers me is this town being labeled racist. I'm not racist."
In other words, the less diverse your community, the more likely you are to trust the people in it who are different from you. The flip side is also true: The more ethnically diverse the people you live around, the less you trust them
. It turns out that in the most diverse places in the country, Americans tend to distrust everyone, those who do look like them and those who don't.
it does suggest that simply celebrating it and promoting it is not going to help us get along.
This article reveals the negative consequences of diversity. Areas that are more diverse tend to distruss other races more than the areas that are less diverse. Furthermore, areas with numerous different races tend to distruss everybody including there own race. Thus, celebrating diversity only increases segregation and helps widen racial gaps.
