This video portrays blacks negatively. The males are portrayed as misogynists, and the females don't seem to mind. Also, bandanas are carried around or held at the waist, which is reflective of gang violence. This video may also be seen as reaffirming blacks as oversexed.
Interesting thought by Jackson - how much does timing affect the attention to issues?
"I believe in people standing up for what's right," said resident Ricky Coleman, 46, who is white. "What bothers me is this town being labeled racist. I'm not racist."
The White guy is on a quest to act like the stereotypical Black male. His clothes and accessories are very stereotypical of Blacks, including bling, baggy clothes, and a backwards hat. He throws up gang signs and has hydraulics on his convertible. The girls in the video are represented in a sexual manner and most are either Black or Latina. Blacks are suggested to be great at break dancing while Whites can't dance. Overall, it is conveyed that Whites are just not as cool as Blacks.
Here is a video that talks about racism for the jewish people. some interesting lyrics are:
"We've been traveling from state to state...
...3,000 years with no place to be
And they want me to give up my milk and honey
Don't you see, it's not about the land or the sea
Not the country but the dwelling of his majesty"
He is saying that the land is important to the jewish people for more reasons than just the land or the water.
"Burn in the oven in this century
And the gas tried to choke, but it couldn't choke me...
...Erase the demons out of our memory
Change your name and your identity
Afraid of the truth and our dark history
Why is everybody always chasing we
Cut off the roots of your family tree
Don't you know that's not the way to be"
Here he is saying that it takes more to be strong than just erasing the horrible past of the jewish people in israel, and also the present.
