If you scroll down a little bit, there are a bunch of quotes from people from the area who were involved, both parents and students. It's interesting to get all of those different perspectives on the whole situation, especially the whole noose incident.
There is so much to work with in this video! I think you really got most of it though. I wonder if you could even work in colorblind theory since this guy is oblivious to what everyone else (particularly minorities) think of him. That would be a rather interesting spin...
this video shows the black perspective of the black innercity. It almost gives their perspective to why they commit certain crimes or their mentality when doing certain things.
umm im really confused if hes dead.if ppl say hes dead prove it..if ppl say hes alive prove it.
I just this video because I assume most people will try to find a rap video that has an interesting representation of African Americans. When thinking about other races I could try finding videos about, I remember a video my friend had shown my a long time ago, and thus, chose to post this. As the title would suggst, this video is very pro Asian, and pretty much says White people will never be as good as them and/or accept their culture.
This video portrays blacks negatively. The males are portrayed as misogynists, and the females don't seem to mind. Also, bandanas are carried around or held at the waist, which is reflective of gang violence. This video may also be seen as reaffirming blacks as oversexed.
Here is a video that talks about racism for the jewish people. some interesting lyrics are:
"We've been traveling from state to state...
...3,000 years with no place to be
And they want me to give up my milk and honey
Don't you see, it's not about the land or the sea
Not the country but the dwelling of his majesty"
He is saying that the land is important to the jewish people for more reasons than just the land or the water.
"Burn in the oven in this century
And the gas tried to choke, but it couldn't choke me...
...Erase the demons out of our memory
Change your name and your identity
Afraid of the truth and our dark history
Why is everybody always chasing we
Cut off the roots of your family tree
Don't you know that's not the way to be"
Here he is saying that it takes more to be strong than just erasing the horrible past of the jewish people in israel, and also the present.
Interesting thought by Jackson - how much does timing affect the attention to issues?
"I believe in people standing up for what's right," said resident Ricky Coleman, 46, who is white. "What bothers me is this town being labeled racist. I'm not racist."
