YouTube - Offspring Pretty Fly for a White Guy - 0 views

The White guy is on a quest to act like the stereotypical Black male. His clothes and accessories are very stereotypical of Blacks, including bling, baggy clothes, and a backwards hat. He throws up gang signs and has hydraulics on his convertible. The girls in the video are represented in a sexual manner and most are either Black or Latina. Blacks are suggested to be great at break dancing while Whites can't dance. Overall, it is conveyed that Whites are just not as cool as Blacks.

The Jena 6: Nooses Hang From The "White Tree" - Pursuing Holiness - 0 views

  •
This article chronicles the foundation for the Jena 6 case.  It involves the provocation of the black students by white students with the hanging of three nooses under the "White Tree."  This led to violence against blacks by some white students, moving on to retaliation by black students.  After this event, an assembly was called in which black and white students sat on opposing sides of the gym.  The District Attorney turned to the blacks and said "See this pen in my hand?  I can end your lives with the stroke of a pen."  The first to be tried in the case of the Jena 6 is Mychal Bell, who faces 22 years in prison on a 2nd degree battery charge.

In this music video both the homeless people are black. Also, the police are all white. Moreover, the black rappers portray themselves in a "ghetto" and as the originators/leaders of hip hop. The hip hop wanted pictures are all of black men.

this video shows the black perspective of the black innercity. It almost gives their perspective to why they commit certain crimes or their mentality when doing certain things.

YouTube - Juvenile - Back That Ass Up - 0 views

This video portrays blacks negatively.  The males are portrayed as misogynists, and the females don't seem to mind.  Also, bandanas are carried around or held at the waist, which is reflective of gang violence.  This video may also be seen as reaffirming blacks as oversexed.

    I hate mojiti.

lol yea mojiti is kind of difficult to use. I like the selection. It raises several questions about race. The biggest thing for me was trying o decipher the different messges the group was trying to send. Should people feel bad for the individuals in situations similar to the girl in the video? Is her socioeconomic status being presented as a hindrance or a crutch? As te song progresses, the emphasis shifts towards the latter.

This is a really good video full of racial stereotypes, mainly negative ones about Blacks. I like how the song presents the problem/situation, provides possible ways to improve the situation, and makes it a little more hopeful. You might also want to consider how the attire, attitude, and location of the singers contribute to the message being sent. Are they examples of people who have successfully escaped that lifestyle? Are they examples of how other people can help those in this type of horrible situation? Good job though!

    Here's my video!!!

This video is good, it's kind of antithetical to my video, which is a good thing. The ironic part is (at least in my opinion) the beat is not as catchy as the one in my song, but they lyrics are way better. They seem to acknowledge the values of my song as expose the negativity of them, especially in the one part where one of the guys says "whatever happened to the values of humanity", i.e. suggesting that they have been pushed to the wayside in favor of money and materialism.

Equality? Ask yourself? What happened to the fairness and equality? Instead of spreading love we're spreading animosity!
