This is a free private journal on the web. How much fun would that be to use the web to keep track of your daily journal entries at school? These entries can be shared with others ONLY when you allow them to be. Images can be added on entries as well. Those who keep a journal are known to have a better "working memory." Keeping a journal also improves the writing process and aids in creativity. No more pen and pencil for journals after today!

I love to cook but don't get to as much as I would like. This is a great tool for searching for great recipes and saving money and space by not having so many cookbooks sitting around! I really liked the recipe of the day and how you could search by ingredients, chefs, or recipes. It gives a lot of freedom, so if you're just looking for something with chocolate in it, you can browse through tons of recipes!

Great for playing all kinds of music. You are allowed to select an era of music and or genre. I use music in my classroom a lot it works great to be able to type in what I'm looking for.

This is a site that can be used to make your own comic books. At the bottom right hand corner there is a link that if for schools, stating, Learning with Comics. This could be a great way to work with elementary readers to create their own interesting storyboards.

Fatburgr provides nutrition information for many of your favorite restaurants. Calories, fat grams, carbs, and fiber are all listed for menu items from restaurants such as Schlotzsky's, Chili's, McDonald's, Panera Bread, Krispy Kreme, and many more. With the focus on childhood obesity, this is a great site for kids (and adults) to compare menu items and learn how to make better choices when eating out. This site could be a fun resource for a health, or maybe even a math, activity.

This is a great site if you are a pet lover like me! This site is a good tool for people wanting to find a safe, reliable home for their pet or for people wanting to find a certain type of pet. You can search for any type of pet, even insects!! You can search by country, location, age, etc. It makes it very easy to find any pet you may be wanting, without wanting to contribute to puppy mills or other breeders. It is also great for people wanting to find a good home for a pet for people, for whatever the reason, can no longer care for it. There are photos to browse through as well. It is a great tool for keeping pets in good, loving homes.

faceinhole.com is a fun site with famous pictures of celebrities, movie scenes, music album covers, magazine covers, and more. Each picture has a hole where a face belongs. You can upload a digital photo of yourself and crop it to fit in the hole you chose. You can also post your creation to a blog. These can be done for fun or you can have students create one and tie it into subject matter. For example, they could create a picture of themselves and then use that picture and setting to write a story, using the particular writing elements in your classroom.

This collaborative video creating site offers many possibilities! Students could use the site to create videos for a variety of purposes and projects. Teachers and schools could use the site to create videos content knowledge, professional development, or parent information. The site offers tutorials and education specific solutions.

This would be a great tool for teachers/students to use to organize photos and videos for classroom projects. These can be shared on the web or securely and privately. Notes, comments, and tags can be added to each photo and video by the teacher and all the classmates.

Flickr allows you to share your photos with anyone. This could be helpful in the classroom to share class photos with all of the families.

This web 2.0 tools allows a person to design their own comic strip. It can be used for language arts. This would also be a great tool for incorporating language arts into other areas of curriculum. This could be something that a student could get on by his self and work on individually. It could then be shared by the entire class by viewing it on the SmartBoard.

ToonDoo allows you to create your own comic strip with speech bubbles. You can also upload your own picture and be the character in a comic strip. This could be used for story telling, a culminating activity for a research project, or creating a book trailer.

This site can be used to make a video out of your music and pictures. What a great way for students to take photographs of their work or assignments and make them into a video. \n\nFor example, in a science lab pictures could be taken of the lab and directions to make a video of how the lab should or should not work. \n\nAnother idea might be to take photographs of a two hour game every ten minutes or at pertinent times and then a video could be made of the event to show \n\n

Animoto is a great program that allows you to upload pictures, choose music, and wait as a finished product is produced in minutes. You can do a short video for free or get a full subscription and have access to longer videos.

This site allows the viewer to see panoramic shots of cities around the world. 360 Cities could be used in the classroom to immerse the learner in a real world exploration of the city or region being studied. A great way to expand the learner's horizon!

As more and more students are required to use the web for homework and projects this website becomes more and more useful. It allows the user to design a logo that they could put on their web page or even add to the top a paper or presentation. Free to design a logo and download in a zip file to allow for their own personal use.

This is a kid-friendly site that allows students to publish their own podcasts concerning subjects that matter to them. Each podcast is rated in a way that is similar to the rating system used for video games This is to ensure the age-appropriateness of each podcast. This would be a great tool to use in the classroom for a variety of projects. Students could share their thoughts on classroom topics, current events, or book reviews.

Kid-cast.com is a website for that allows kids to publish their own Podcasts to share with other kids. The website is designed to be kid safe.

zWebquest is a web-based software for creating WebQuests in a short time. When you use zWebquest, you will not need any of writing HTML code or using any web editor software. zWebquest creates all the necessary files and puts them on the server automatically. Hosting is FREE!

Lookybook is a wonderful website that allows the user to read through a variety of picture books. After reading a book, the site also offers the opportunity to purchase the book through several different companies. The user can also create a "bookshelf" of favorite books to share with other users. This site could be used to do an author or illustrator study and is very helpful when deciding to read or purchase a book.

Create your own travel journal for free! This would be great for geography lessons. It would also be good for using with literature that takes place in real locations. Teachers could also explore already created journals for use with classes.
