MLA writing format site

I am a little iffy about this site being interactive enough to be considered 2.0, but if you are teaching writing to older students, it is pretty nice. There are bibliography makers and tutorials so... I hope it is considered a 2.0 Web site :-)

This is an online notice board maker where you can post announcements, greetings, jokes; just about anything you would want to put on a Post It. I think this would be a great tool for students to use in a note taking assignment. This would be fun to collaborate multiple students' posts and try to combine them randomly to create a funny poem or short story.

This site is a kid-safe search engine that is powered by google. It combines the google safe search with their own restricted elements. It also allows teachers to remove sites if desired. Great for elementary research projects.

aMap is short for 'argument map'. The idea's very simple - to get more people arguing by mapping out complex debates in a simple visual format. At its heart, aMap is about helping people get to grips with complex (or otherwise) issues and get people thinking. aMaps come in two different formats: Printed pocket-sized aMaps, which you can buy on the eMaps website Interactive personalised aMaps, which you can make on the eMaps website The underlying structuring of aMaps is based around "informal logic" - this is the logic people use to argue in everyday life. Informal logic has a four-tiered structure: - Your position (I think . . .) - what you think over all - Propositions (Because . . .) - reasons that support your position - Arguments (As . . .) - supporting arguments that back up each of your propositions - Evidence (Supported by . . .) - supporting evidence to back up your arguments Although aMaps can be used just for fun, to help students improve and/or develop their reasoning and critical thinking in their essay writing and verbal communication.

WePapers helps students and others share and expand their knowledge for free. You can find and download papers and documents you need in a matter of seconds, discuss them with others, or just mess around. WePapers is where you find the kind of quality information you wouldn't find anywhere else on the web, the kind of papers you'd have to dig for in dusty library basements and still not find what you're looking for. WePapers is one big study group! Universities are even using it for class-notes and articles. I could see using this in a classroom situation for research papers and the such. Students would have the opportunity to connect with others around the world, get help, and feedback from others just like them.

This site let's you download, share and organize information. Sign up is free and if have a facebook account you do not have to sign up.

ToonDoo allows you to create your own comic strip with speech bubbles. You can also upload your own picture and be the character in a comic strip. This could be used for story telling, a culminating activity for a research project, or creating a book trailer.

Glogster lets you create a glog or an "interactive poster," that is, in effect, a personal Web page complete with embedded media links, sound, and video capabilities. Students can work with Glogster individually or as a group to create presentations, share information, and interact with their peers. Glogster now provides master-accounts for teachers integrating all student accounts. This is a very cool classroom tool.

Glogster is a site that allows you to mix movies, pictures, graphics and words to create a collage for others to view. This site is also perfect for your WIKIs. Kid friendly on line tool for creating graphs of all kinds. It includes a tutorial, tools, graphing, and various ways to understand graphing in a kid friendly format

This site allows you to easily create Bar, Line, Area, Pie, and XY graphs. When completed the graphs can then either be printed or saved. This site would work much better than excel for many simple student graphs, because of the complexities that excel sometimes leads to.

When I found this website I was so excited! This website makes creating a graph SUPER easy! Whether you teach Math or Science, this is a great website to use for graphing. The students are still responsible to collecting the data and knowing where to put the information. All they have to do is choose the type of graph they want, type in the data, and then the graph is created!

This site enables you to create a speaking avatar. It can be used to teach characterization or for presenting information in which students need to use oral language. The avatar can speak from recording your voice over a phone or typing in text.

A great way to give a daily message to the students. Can have the students record lunch menu for the class to hear each morning.

Voki is a free service that allows you to create personalized speaking avatars and use them on your blog, profile, and in email messages. I personally have two of them on my teacher website. Sometimes you have to spell phonetically in order to get the Avatar to pronounce things correctly, but other than that, it is a blast creating them.

This allows a person to express themselves through animation. This would be useful to help the reluctant students who have trouble expressing themselves to others. Students could use this for projects and presentations.

On GoAnimate you can make your own animated characters, direct your own cartoons and watch others' creations. It's easy and free! I think this would be a fun way to allow students the creative freedom to construct graphic-novel-type book reports or fictional stories. This would also be a wonderful way for students to retell the plot line of the story for the class.

This site allows teachers, students, or others to create presentations that can include multiple websites, photos, ect. The Flowgram also allows you to narrate throught your project to assist students or give them more information. This would be a great tool for assisting students in research project or a great tool for students to use when giving a presentation.

This tool allows the user to create powerpoint presentations and share them on the internet. Once the presentations were created, they could be accessed from anywhere. This could be easily used in the classroom.

Create a map of your favorite places, travels or destinations. Public, private, or community maps are available to make. I could see using this site in a variety of ways. It could be used as a beginning of the year "Get-to-know-you" activity. It could also be used to focus in on a specific geographical area in a Social Studies or Geography unit.

This site allows the user to enter a vocabulary list and create flashcards, take tests and much more over the words. User can share the words with others via the internet. Retesting is possible. This would be great for students to use to help study vocabulary and learn new words.

This site offers many set of "flashcards" and allows you to create you own. It then creates games for you to play to learn your vocabulary.

This website allows both teachers and students to create virtual flashcards using classroom concepts. Students can also use the flashcards to study by playing games and taking quizzes.

This is for anyone who spends anytime working on their family tree. It is very easy to use and you are able to add pictures. This would work great for a family tree project in class. It also has places to create timelines, which would be a great social studies project.

With Geni, you can build your family tree, invite relatives to collaborate, preserve your family history, discover new relatives, share family photos and videos, and remember birthdays and anniversaries. Geni is private and secure. Only the people in your family can see your tree. I think this would be a wonderful tool to help teach research and organizational skills in a very secure and controlled environment.

This site lists resources that answer your questions about technology. It gives the website to go to for just about everything you would need/want to do.

This site provides teachers with suggestions on how to integrate video production into the curriculum. It explores the world of media literacy. This would be a great tool to use with struggling readers needing that extra motivation. After students have completed the task there is even a place where kids can get advice from other kids.
