In the springtime, I am always looking for new ways to keep the kids engaged. Webquests seem to be the ticket. The kids love to do them because its independent work, group work, and whole class work. It's a fun way for them to really get engaged and to take responsibility for their learning. This site has a multitude of different webquests. I just type in the topic I'm looking for, and usually about 2-3 webquests will pop up.

This is the website of the elementary school where my kids go to school. They are always playing with new and creative ways to get the kids interested in what they are learning about. The fourth grade classes do podcasts after different lessons to emphasize what they have learned as well as work on their reading fluency skills.

Internet4Classrooms - Helping Teachers Use the Internet Effectively - 0 views

This is an excellent resource for teachers who want to put technology into their classrooms. This site is geared more for home schooling kids, but I use it all the time. There are tons of sites you can use for all grade levels. Once you go to the grade level you want, you then can look at it for each specific subject area. This has been a wonderful source that I use for my Computer Center for guided reading.

I love doing web quests with kids. They are fully engaged, problem solving, and practicing the skills they will use in their adult lives. This site sorts the quests based on grade level and subject area.

National Library of Virtual Manipulatives - 1 views

  •
This site is broken down into the five main math standards and from there, it breaks it down into grades. These are excellent virtual manipulatives that students can use online. They are organized neatly and each one has directions on how to use them. Some of them are more confusing than others, but well worth it. My kids love using them.

I use this site a ton. This is a free site that you can go to in order to create awards for kids. These awards can then be emailed to parents or you can email them to yourself and print them off. I love this site! There are other things on this site to use, but the awards are what I have always used. To get to the awards, click on "Site Awards." Then at the very top of this page, you have a link that will take you to "Make Awards."

This is an online tool that will help you manage and cite online sources. This could be a valuable tool in getting kids to properly cite the resources they use.

Online Teaching Conference 2010 - 0 views

  •
This online conference, which takes place in June, will actually feature a panel of students who speak on their thoughts on the future of technology and education. It would be interesting to check it out to see how teachers are collaborating with students on the issue of future education.

This guy is awesome. On this website not only can you check out his blogs but he has all kinds of cool and relevent experiments he shows you how to do in your own classroom. Sure it favors science but there is plenty of stuff for any teacher to enjoy on here.
