Microsoft OneNote - 2 views

  •
OneNote is a great product from Microsoft, and it's basically a digital series of binders that you can create and customize. You can create and label binders, sections, and individual pages. You can add notes, checklists, links to web pages, embed documents...almost anything you find can be placed there. The two most beneficial features: everything you put there can be made searchable, and your binders are sharable via SkyDrive (Microsoft's cloud) and by emailed link. A project manager could use this for anything from their own simple notes to an official file of collaborative information about a project! I love OneNote. It is so easy to share and collaborate with others.

I use OneNote all the time and wonder how I managed without it! I tried Evernote, but the bugs finally drove me away and then I discovered OneNote. I don't know why Microsoft doesn't promote it better... it's a great tool!

I am also a big fan of OneNote. I use it a lot to share information with other teachers.

Systems Thinking: Systems-Oriented View of Organizational Functions - 0 views

  •
I like this website and have read most of the topics. I post the homepage URL to show all the topics available, but take note of the few topics on project management. I've had a long interest in the convergence of PM & KM, and both share some similar qualities from the systems-oriented perspective. There are a lot of other authors and resources out there that talk about PM from a systems-thinking approach, but I thought this site a good starting point. A good book for expanding on this topic is Gerald Weinberg's "An Introduction to General Systems Thinking."

MindMeister is a leading online mind mapping tool, allowing individuals from around the world to simultaneously collaborate on problem solving, business planning, note taking, etc. with nothing more than a browser and an internet connection. We've taken cues from the scientifically proven mind mapping methodology, and applied them to an easy-to-use, online application.

Jennifer, I posted a tool very similar. I really love mind mapping and think it has huge benefits in the area of project management. It is nice when multiple people can work on the same visual. These maps help you to organized your ideas and see potential problems. Both huge things in Project Management.

This site has 3 prerecorded webinars on Project Management that address the building blocks, practical examples and applying PM principles to your workplace. Although geared toward library application, the PM skills addressed can be adapted and serve as a good refresher, introduction to or continuing education. This site is hosted by the Colorado Dept of Education and the Colorado State Library, which lends reliability to the content. The webinars are FREE and always accessible, and you can download the slides in Powerpoint or as a handout, which is great for note taking.
