A comprehensive look at applying the PMBOK methodology to instructional design work. This open access textbook is very grounded in the PMBOK methodology and based on another open textbook called Project Management From Simple to Complex.
This is a great site for affordable online training, especially for PMP certification preparation. You can select training from among many reputable online training devopment companies. The PMP course I checked out was by PrimeLearning. Although I couldn't tell which version of the PMBOK the course was written for, it looked like all of the main concepts were included in the course.
Free templates for all stages of Project Management. Great simple explanations of terminology and descriptions of what should go in each section of templates that are available. Not only are there documents you would expect such as Project Initiation Documents and Work Breakdown Schedule documents, but also Project Meeting Agenda and Minute templates. When you don't know where to start with compiling PM documents, this site offers some easy to use options.
The templates look like they are really easy to use, at least the ones that I played with did. I thought that it was really interesting that they did their WBS in Microsoft Word. I had contemplated doing that for our project plan but I decided that it would be more trouble than it was worth. The template makes it really easy.
Yup - the same people who publish the books in that series provide a free online resource with specific topics (e.g., "developing meaningful project objectives," "performing a cost-benefit analysis," "how to plan project execution"). It's not the PMBOK, but it's an easy to use and easy to digest collection of good information.
This looks like a great resource to learn project management from scratch. Since so many details go into project management, I think this would be the ideal reference for me, since it breaks it down for the novices. Thanks for sharing!
While this collection of tools and tips is geared toward the novice project manager, it also includes a wealth of information and resources for even the most seasoned project manager. Browse this comprehensive library for advice, forms, templates and so much more that you can use today.
Thanks. I posted some stuff from brighthubpm.com too - I found it useful earlier in the course to learn more about resource management and get an overview on PMBOK. Nice resource.
A Project Charter is a must-have in any project, as prescribed by the PMBOK® Guide and other methods. It is a document that summarizes the key information about a project and that announces to the world, aka, your organization, that there is a new project on the block.
