I have noticed a trend with universities. There seems to be more systems that support a CV format. This does away with a professor compiling their information in a separate document. I know the University of Texas at Arlington has a system called Mertis. This allows for their faculty members to input information instead of a CV. Has anyone else noticed this? I wanted to post this website one because it has the sections, but is a more condensed version.

This CV is from MIT, a medium sized university with high research activity. There is personal information given in this CV, but it is not too detailed.

This is the CV for a professor at a small, not-for-profit, school only granting bachelor and master degrees. I find some of the personal information included odd.

My undergraduate advisor's professional page at Virginia Tech. It is a nice one page format with just the most important information. Similar to my current advisor's official site, it has no blog or commentary.

Listed below are the dozen plus categories of information, that are most often included in a CV (It is also useful to think of them as modules that can be moved around to suit particular openings and circumstances). It would be rare for someone to use all of them in a single CV.

I like how the author of this article from the University of California Berkeley posted an example after each description. I noticed that many of the articles that I read about CVs gave similar information, but the layout of this article was more effective.

There is a real danger in seeking out a template. It is important to provide up-to-date information in current formatting. While templates are a good place to start, it is easy to "fill in the blanks" and overlook the need to personalize the information submitted to fit both the author and the position the author hopes to fill.

Still a simple, straight-forward format but more eye-catching with use of lines to divide sections of document. Includes book chapters in publications. Interesting that no licensure information is included since most PT CVs cover this area.

As I mentioned, there are not many websites that are or have portfolios for IT. I did find this site that gives dozens of examples of what portfolios could like it.
