KARACHI: The dispute between Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) and Pakistan Airline Pilots Association (PALPA) entered seventh day on Wednesday, as scheduled flights continued to face long delays in departure, Samaa reported. According to Samaa correspondent, Lahore-Karachi (PK-315), Sukkur-Karachi (PK-541), Madina-Karachi (PK-747) and Abu Dhabi-Lahore (PK-268) were delayed.
KARACHI: The Pakistan Rangers Sindh on Friday obtained 90-day remand of political activist allegedly involved in targeted killing of 57 people. Sources in the paramilitary forces said the suspect arrested from Gulshan-e-Mamar area of the city is also involved in the killing of two paramilitary soldiers as well as armed attacks on police and Rangers mobiles.

BEIRUT: Russian jets launched a fourth day of air raids in Syria Saturday, a monitor said, hitting the Islamic State group's main stronghold after claims Moscow was instead targeting moderate rebel factions. "Several Russian strikes hit IS positions west of Raqa overnight and explosions were heard in the city," Rami Abdel Rahman, head of the Britain-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, told AFP.
KARACHI: From October 18 to 28, the Islamabad airport would remain closed for re-carpeting of runway from 1300 hrs to 1800 hrs every day, a PIA spokesman announced on Thursday. He said that because of this, the PIA has rescheduled all flights taking off or landing at Islamabad airport.

KARACHI: The Central Ruet-e-Hilal (moon-sighting) Committee has confirmed the sighting of Muharram moon, the first month of Islamic calendar. Thursday will be the first day of Muharram while Ashura will be marked on October 24. Mufti Abdul Qavi, a member of the committee, told SAMAA that Muharram's moon was sighted.
