Participate in a live 'virtual roundtable' on the criteria for autism in the newly published DSM-5, the 5th edition of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders. The DSM-5's publication last week and a preemptive announcement from the National Institute of Mental Health that it will be directing research away from DSM categories should make for a lively and informative debate. What:
MEA-MFT PASS is an intensive four-day course, designed to help Montana paraprofessionals meet Federal qualification standards contained in the No Child Left Behind Act. The course has been developed by and for Montana paraprofessionals and provides participants with important skills in classroom management as well as proven strategies in reading, writing, and math instruction, taught in a dynamic and fun setting. A nationally developed assessment is built directly into the four-day course, assuring that paraprofessionals who take the course can demonstrate evidence of content mastery to their local districts and the state of Montana. Course materials are taken from the nationally recognized and award winning Educational Research and Dissemination (ER&D) program, developed by the American Federation of Teachers (AFT). A team of highly trained educators from throughout the state are responsible for teaching the course. Each trainer has received over 70 hours of ER&D training at the national level.

This Support Group is for parents of children with behavioral and emotional issues. The group meets once a month for the purpose of supporting one another and sharing resources. This month come visit and share ideas for summer activities with the kids. A light dinner will be provided.

Strengths-Based Coaching is a 12 hour training that will fundamentally change the way coaches and leaders support and sustain quality improvements in their programs, agencies, and school districts. This practical approach for working with adults enhances the coaching role of leaders, building on their strengths, knowledge, and skills. Strengths-Based Coaching is based on five foundations: adult learning theory, core beliefs, how to approach others, relationship building, and communication. These five foundations lead to positive feedback that creates partnerships and builds on the strengths of staff.
