This and the other species of this wildflower were blooming high up in the Ochoco Mountains.
Use the little window and the photo will be a photo within a photo, it is really cool!
One thing about wildlife, they still have to get out in the weather and do their thing.
Saturday we got snowed on.
Wildlife was still doing their thing. Here are some of the mule deer photographs.
Now the buck did not run, but he did not think it wise to stick around either.
I am very happy that my canon camera has a nice body for this extreme weather!! My poor camera!! It gets rained on, snowed on, than we have the other extremes of high, dry temperatures here in the high desert.
As I was sitting in my spot watching the birds, butterflies, bees just enjoying the nice weather we have here in the high desert of Oregon I looked over to one of our ponds and seen the swimming young frogs wanting their piece of bread.
Well, I can not just feed them one day and not the other right?
Thistle weed is a very common weed. At one time we did not see thistle here in the high desert as we do now. It spreads very well. Mainly horses or cattle who......
Some days the Mule Deer show themselves, while other days they do not.
Saturday was a day to show themselves, and it just happened to be a snowy day here in the high desert.
The buck was funny, he did hide his head, or tried the best he could at first. After some time of just watching him, snapping some photographs he must of figured I was ok and not there to hurt him for he came out in the open long enough for me to get quite a few shots, adjusting my lens as I went. With his breath seen and the one antler looking like it does.... he is unique looking!
The does and the older fawn stopped long enough for me to snap some photographs as well.
For those new to Mule Deer. The Mule Deer are very big deer. They are called Mule Deer due to their very large ears.
Never photographing these before. I was quite happy to find these high up in the Ochoco Mountains of Oregon.
We found a area of wildflowers blooming and stopping to photograph all the wildflowers in that spot, then thought we should head up to the higher elevation and did so on a narrow dirt road until we came to melting snow. This is where these were blooming along with some other wildflowers. Noticing a lot of elk and it looked like the horses use the area as a resting place. Wild horses in the Ochoco Mountains is a common thing.
Such impressive flowers!
We started out on our outing yesterday heading towards the Ochoco Mountains.
Well, as soon as it started snowing on us, and the snow on the ground started getting deeper we decided to turn the truck around. ....
This is a Sagebrush Mariposa Lily, I sometimes call it a tulip. These grow wild here in our part of Central Oregon and can be seen with different creatures on it for lunch.
A Quail Taking In The Evening Sun. These quail are funny, they will jump on the fence posts and just bask in the sun. We see this in the evenings mostly.
It Is Just To Hot! Who says wildlife does not speak our language? Many birds of prey were caught with their wings up to cool themselves off Saturday. I caught one bird panting even! Oh this one knows I am there.
We came upon a site last weekend I would like to share. At first I did not know what species of hawk this was, but with help from others the question of what kind of hawk this is was answered!
Photography of wildlife is never to pass up a opportunity, even if you do not know exactly what species of wildlife.......
