Amazing Brain Facts, Videos About the Brain - Posit Science - 0 views

  •
The purpose of this article is to go over 5 amazing brain facts. The writer of the article does do something that I personally am a big fan of, which is instead of writing about 5 interesting brain facts, they have short videos describing every brain fact in moderate detail. The main points of the article is to showcase 5 amazing brain facts and talk about why they are amazing, such as explaining why exercise is good for your heart AND your brain. The only issues that are covered are about why people should exercise regularly, and the article talks about memory loss, and why it doesn't have to happen to you; No other "issues" are covered. If some lady or some gentleman were to ask me "What is this article about?", I would tell them that it is about what the title says it is about; 5 amazing brain facts, plain and simple.

White tailed deer in VT - 0 views

  •
One of the main points of this site is biology of the deer, which is basically what they eat, their species, population number, location, and a little bit of anatomy. The other main points are Their habitat, why not to feed /bait deer, and what impacts do deer have on people. The purpose is to let people know the information in each of the main points and to have people be more knowledgeable about Vermont deer. The basic topics are pretty much species, what deer eat, where they live, how they survive, why not to biat, populations, and management. If someone wanted to know what this article is about I would say vermont big game. This is a useful site if you want to have a good summary of Vermont deer. This site goes over many good topics even though they don't go crazy in depth it is still a good site for me. There are sites outside of new England that go much farther into detail, but this site is still pretty helpful. This site has good information for me considering I am studying overall biology and management. I would recommend this site to someone who wants a great splurge of information about vermont deer, but if someone wanted to know more information about deer or if they needed info on specific topics that go deep into detail, than this site may not be for them. This site was pretty helpful because it gave information about everything and wrote two to three sentences about each and every topic . For example, the site says that "deer are completely vegetarian. They eat a variety of leaves, twigs, and nuts. In Vermont, a deer's diet consists of maple, ash, birch twigs and leaves. Small plants, grasses, and fruit and nuts such as apples, acorns, and beechnuts also are important foods."Clearly, this site goes into detail and has valuable information. I now know that I have furthered my knowledge about deer. Once I pick a specific topic to study I may have to pick sites outside of Vermont because states with a higher deer density and more money can study deer

Deforestation - 0 views

The purpose of this website is to spread awareness and educate people on environmental issues. WWF also is an environmental conservation program that has offices all around the world. Many topics are covered on this website; for example, deforestation and the causes and impacts of this issue. I did a lot of my research for a big deforestation paper on this website. It was very efficient and useful, also containing many great articles with tons of information. This websites gives great statistics and facts, which is why I would recommend this source. I think it has really changed my thinking and understanding of the topic deforestation for the better because I am now educated on this topic as well as aware of the many impacts in can have on our earth.

The Best Color To Help You Concentrate Is... - 0 views

  •
Within this website the article I was looking at talked about what color was the best to help people to concentrate. (spoiler alert, it's orange). This article didn't only tell me which color stimulates the mind more, but it also gave an explanation as to why. Besides the color, the brightness of the color that makes a big impact on a person efficiency. From the insights of a psychologist and Feng Shui principals, the information in this article seemed to be truthful. I thought this website was very useful for my study because I do not want to paint a mural that would stimulate the mind too much if a person was feeling sick and just wanted to rest. This website is great for anyone that would like to know what color to paint a room.

This site has a unique layout. It allows you to search for a college and look at it's statistics, look at its average financial aid package, and see application requirements for admission. This site was super helpful to me because I realized I couldn't apply to one of my colleges because I hadn't done all of the application requirements for that specific school.
  •
You can also compare three different colleges at once when searching for colleges, which is pretty nice because you can see how they stack up to each other.

How is this one better than Collegeboard?

The college board website has been very helpful throughout my exploration. The website lets you search colleges, and shows you only the important nuggets of information, without the hassle of combing though the colleges website.

Burlington Free Press - 0 views

This is very helpful in finding current events and local news. It gives great detail in everything and is updated very regularly with new articles.

This was a very helpful site for me for my research in Global Studies. I used this site to look up current events.

I was introduced to this site through American Studies, since it is our primary source for the History of the Day (HOTD) assignment that we do once a quarter. For HOTD, we use the e-newspaper, which simulates the experience of reading that day's paper complete with "flipping" through the international, national, and local news. I know that the Burlington Free Press is a reliable source since it is fairly well known in this state, and it has multiple reporters and editors working on every story and checking the facts to make sure that it is accurate. This source is probably a bit liberal as news sources go, since it is published in Vermont where most of the readers are democrats, but I usually feel as though I am being informed, not persuaded, when I read it. I really enjoy getting news from the BFP because the paper is small enough that you can receive information without getting overwhelmed, and it doesn't take too long to read the whole thing. Using this source in American Studies has also changed my perception of my state, since it has helped me realize that even though it is a small state, Vermont has talented editors and is able to produce a news source that is equally as informative as big-time sources like the New York Times.

Can a skateboard save the world? - 0 views

  •
Two entrepreneurs are making waves by creating skateboards out of fishing nets discarded in the waters off Chile around 640,000 fishing nets clog up the oceans around us and that is only a 1/10th of the garbage. Many many people helped by picking up trash and donating money towards this. they took fishing nets and made them into plastic beeds and were created as a mold for a longboard and they sold out very quickly because these boards if they keep being made it could put a big helpful environmental impact around us!
