CD-ROM online contents for multiple sections

HIV is a disease of the gut, a concept that's easy to lose sight of with all the attention paid to sexual transmission and blood measurements of the virus and the CD4+ T cells it infects and kills. But the bottom line is that about two thirds of all T cells reside in the lymphoid tissue of the gut, where the virus spreads after exposure, even before it shows up in blood.

Written for middle school/high school audiences, "The Gene Scene" ushers the viewer into the micro-biological universe of human DNA. I co-wrote the script for this short animation, which was created for an educational CD-ROM marketed to junior high and high schools around the English- and Spanish-speaking world. The colorful cartoon explains some of the basic scientific concepts of human genetics.
