This is a handy web browser add-on if you work on a number of different computers or devices. It allows you to access your links from any computer with web access. If you're only going to bookmark your computer locally you MUST use this tool - or you'll risk losing all of those great web finds you've accumulated over the years! It is an add-on to your computer's browser - works in all the major browsers.

Google Wave is fairly new and it has just come out of beta testing and is now open to everyone with a Google account. The web app is part chat, part email with a whole lot of collaborative possibilities for education. How it is going to be used is still being determined at this point. It's fun to use!

Weebly is a site creation tool that allows non-technical people to create their own basic blog and websites for free. Weebly for educators allows you to have your own blog and class site and also lets you manage your students' portfolio sites. There is a pro edition ($40 year) that opens up some other features like selected password protected pages, audio player, increased file size limit, embedded documents and a file uploader for your site. Weebly comes with 10 student site spaces and additional spaces are reasonably priced.

LiveBinders allows you to present a number of pages in one browser window. Easy interface allows you to create subject binders that you can share by making public. Again, multiple site links given with one URL. Linking sites to your binder with the toolbar applet that works with Firefox and Google Chrome browsers. Steve Hargadon created this Ning - it's a space where teachers get together and share wisdom, resources and conversation. It currently has over 40,000 educators subscribed. A terrific resource for extending your learning!

Diigo is the best of the lot in my opinion! Not only are you bookmarking, you're creating a community of people interested in the same subject. Text on a site can be highlighted, annotated and discussed using Diigo. It's a perfect way for students to discuss a site's content and for them to share their web with you. Netvibes is considered one of the best mashup tools on the internet. A mashup is a web page that uses and combines data, presentation or functionality from two or more sources to create new compilations. They generally don't require programming skills to create.

only2clicks is a visual bookmarking site - pages can be marked private or public depending on your need. A small applet will allow you to add a site to only2clicks quickly. start.io is a basic bookmarking site - allows the user to share a group of sites quickly with one short URL. An applet exists for Firefox and Google Chrome browsers. My start.io page can be found at http://start.io/altucker
