My paper at Ed-Media 2008. Abstract; In 2007, Delft University of Technology started Delft OCW (Open Courseware), a project with the objective of publishing educational resources online. This paper focuses on the future of this project, and describes the results of the research on its sustainability. The advice includes (i) the development of a more decentralized environment for Open Educational Resources (OER), (ii) the involvement of other OER projects, educational institutes, private organizations, and end-users, (iii) the management and support of this environment through tools and protocols, and (iv) deploying various business and revenue models to address the full potential of the project.

This paper describes the current systems, processes and actors. While technological advancements appear to be enabling access to scholarly publications, economic conditions appear to limit access. In addition, a number of alternatives, such as open access are currently in play and there is uncertainty regarding the future of the scholarly publishing system.
We are moving from a supply to a demand side view of learning. "Learnscapes are the platforms where knowledge workers collaborate, solve problems, converse, share ideas, brainstorm, learn, explain, communicate, conceptualise, tell stories, help one another, teach, serve customers, keep up to date, forge partnerships, build communities, and distribute information. Learnscapes define where and how modern work is performed. Training programs are events; learnscapes are longterm processes."
