    The OERC Investigator Initiated Research Program is intended to provide funds to encourage Ohio researchers to initiate research efforts with a high likelihood of attracting future external research funding. Researchers from OERC partner institutions are invited to apply. Each applicant is limited to one proposal per competition as Principal Investigator, but may serve as Co-Investigator or collaborator on other proposals. Special consideration will be given to proposals with a collaborative component representing contributions with research team members from two or more OERC partner institutions.

IIE Announces Major U.S. - Indonesia Research Partnership Program - 0 views

    On behalf of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), and in partnership with the Indonesian Ministry of Research Technology and Higher Education (Kemristekdikti), IIE announces a pre-solicitation for the USAID Sustainable Higher Education Research Alliances (USAID SHERA) program to increase research capacity in Indonesia through U.S. - Indonesia partnerships. This program will foster long-term research alliances between top-tier Indonesian higher education institutions, affiliate Indonesian higher education institutions, U.S. higher education institutions, private sector partners, and other stakeholders on critical topics of local and global significance.  USAID SHERA seeks to fund approximately five Centers for Collaborative Research (CCRs) on specific topics at top-tier Indonesian institutions in partnership with at least one U.S. higher education institution partner and at least three Indonesian higher education institution partners. The anticipated amount of funding per CCR is US$3 million over four years with the lead Indonesian institution as the primary sub-recipient of the funding. The USAID SHERA team is currently accepting Expressions of Interest (EOIs) through the USAID SHERA website through September 15, 2016. USAID SHERA will review completed EOIs to confirm candidates' eligibility and establish target applicants for the full Request for Applications, to be released by the end of September 2016. Interested U.S. higher education intuitions should contact potential Indonesian applicants directly to discuss participating as a partnership member.

    A key philanthropic goal of the secondary education program is to fund initiatives with the capacity for expansion or replication to the state, regional or national levels.  Requests should target professional development of high school teachers and offer best-in-class training to address a significant issue(s) facing teachers.  Efforts to assist either in-service teachers or new teacher preparation are welcome.  Encouraging the use of technology to promote improved teaching and outreach efforts to connect colleges and universities with school districts are invited. The purpose of this program is to provide competitive grants to applicants with a record of improving student achievement and attainment in order to expand the implementation of, and investment in, innovative practices that are demonstrated to have an impact on improving student achievement or student growth, closing achievement gaps, decreasing dropout rates, increasing high school graduation rates, or increasing college enrollment and completion rates. Capacity-Building Program for U.S. Undergraduate Study Abroad - 0 views

    The Office of Global Educational Programs of the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, U.S. Department of State, is pleased to announce an open competition for proposals to advance the Bureau's objectives of mutual understanding between the people of the United States and those of other countries, specifically through greater U.S. student mobility, through the administration of the FY 2015 Capacity-Building Program for U.S. Undergraduate Study Abroad. This competition is a component of the Department's engagement on expanding and diversifying U.S. study abroad through its new U.S. study abroad unit. Under this cooperative agreement, the selected recipient will provide administrative support services, monitoring, evaluation, and programmatic advising and support to sub-recipients for the execution of ECA's FY 2015 Capacity-Building Program for U.S. Undergraduate Study Abroad. In close consultation with ECA, the recipient will run a nationwide competition to provide awards averaging approximately $50,000 to between 17 to 20 accredited U.S. higher education institutions (HEIs) to create or expand their U.S. study abroad programs under outlined diversity goals. None of the funding may be used for student scholarships. The recipient will monitor the fiscal and programmatic progress of sub-recipients and their projects with regular reporting of results to ECA. The Capacity-Building Program for U.S. Undergraduate Study Abroad should be designed to create or expand the capacity of U.S. HEIs to administer study abroad programs under diversity goals, whether broadening the student population who studies abroad and/or the destinations in which they study. It is also intended to allow U.S. institutions to collaborate with and help expand the capacity of overseas HEIs to provide academic programs for U.S. undergraduate students.

    With support from the National Science Foundation (NSF) and the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES), the Association for Institutional Research (AIR) operates a grant program that supports research on a wide range of issues of critical importance to U.S. higher education.     Digital Humanities Advancement Grants (DHAG) support digital projects at different stages throughout their lifecycles, from early start-up phases through implementation and sustainability. Experimentation, reuse, and extensibility are hallmarks of this program, leading to innovative work that can scale to enhance scholarly research, teaching, and public programming in the humanities.     The Sociology Program supports basic research on all forms of human social organization -- societies, institutions, groups and demography -- and processes of individual and institutional change. The Program encourages theoretically focused empirical investigations aimed at improving the explanation of fundamental social processes. Included is research on organizations and organizational behavior, population dynamics, social movements, social groups, labor force participation, stratification and mobility, family, social networks, socialization, gender roles, and the sociology of science and technology. The Program supports both original data collections and secondary data analysis that use the full range of quantitative and qualitative methodological tools. Theoretically grounded projects that offer methodological innovations and improvements for data collection and analysis are also welcomed. As part of its effort to encourage and support projects that explicitly integrate education and basic research, the Sociology Program provides support to improve the conduct of doctoral dissertation projects undertaken by doctoral students enrolled in U.S. universities when the dissertation research is conducted in a scientifically sound manner and it offers strong potential for enhancing more general scientific knowledge. The Sociology Program funds doctoral dissertation research to defray direct costs associated with conducting research, for example, dataset acquisition, additional statistical or methodological training, meeting with scholars associated with original datasets, and fieldwork away from the student's home campus.

    The National Academy of Education works to advance high-quality education research and its use in policy formation and practice. Founded in 1965, the academy comprises members in the United States and foreign associates who are elected on the basis of outstanding scholarship related to education. Since its establishment, NAEd has undertaken research studies that address pressing issues in education conducted by its members and other scholars with relevant expertise. As part of that mission, the NAEd/Spencer Postdoctoral Fellowship Program supports early-career scholars working in critical areas of education research. The non-residential postdoctoral fellowship funds proposals with the potential to make significant scholarly contributions to the field of education. The program also aims to develop the careers of its recipients through professional development activities involving National Academy of Education members. Fellows receive $70,000 for one academic year of research, or $35,000 for each of two contiguous years working half-time, and are included in professional development retreats with other fellows and NAEd members. The program is open to all eligible applicants regardless of race, national origin, religion, gender, age, disability, or sexual orientation. Applicants must have received their PhD, EdD, or equivalent research degree between January 1, 2012, and December 31, 2016. In addition, all applicants should have a demonstrated record of research experience in education.
