This funding opportunity announcement (FOA) seeks to develop and nurture a national innovation ecosystem that builds upon biomedical research to develop technologies, products, and services that benefit society. Toward meeting this objective, the I-Corps program is being offered. The I-Corps at NIH program is focused on educating researchers and technologists on how to translate technologies from the lab into the marketplace. Under this FOA, participating NIH and CDC Institutes and Centers will continue providing administrative supplement awards to currently-funded SBIR and STTR Phase I grantees. The program is designed to provide three-member project teams with access to instruction and mentoring in order to accelerate the translation of technologies currently being developed with NIH and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) SBIR and STTR funding. Through this Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) the BLM is seeking to engage a cooperator/partner to assist with developing and managing an outreach, education and volunteer stewardship program that promotes shared conservation stewardship and responsible use of recreational opportunities on the public lands of the National Conservation Areas (NCA), in particular Gunnison Gorge. Expanded access may include the following activities: hiking, biking, OHV, hunting, camping, fishing, and a variety of recreational pursuits for various user groups. In addition, the BLM seeks a partner to encourage responsible use through shared conservation of public lands; instill in the public the importance of and appreciation for natural and cultural resources; promote awareness develop a cadre of local citizen stewards; and enhance the quality of recreational opportunities available for NCA visitors.

This Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) encourages grant applications to strengthen the developmental biology research environment at educational institutions that provide baccalaureate or advanced degrees, but that have not been major recipients of NIH support. This Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) encourages applications for the Global Infectious Disease (GID) Research Training Program from U.S. and low- and middle-income country (LMIC) institutions. The application should propose a collaborative training program that will strengthen the capacity of an LMIC institution to conduct infectious disease research. The Administration for Children and Families (ACF) at the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), in consultation with the Department of Education (ED), will be soliciting applications from eligible States and Territories to carry out the activities of the Preschool Development Grant Birth through Five (PDG B-5). The new PDG B-5 grant seeks to empower State governments to develop, update, or implement a strategic plan to facilitate collaboration and coordination among early childhood care and education programs in a mixed delivery system to prepare low-income and disadvantaged children to transition into the local educational agency or elementary school. States may pursue a range of activities as outlined in this announcement to align and strengthen existing funding streams, coordinate delivery models, improve the use of existing resources, encourage partnerships among providers and stakeholders, and maximize parental choice in a mixed delivery system.

NIDA and the following NIH Institutes and Centers (ICs), NIAAA, NICHD, NIMH, NIMHD, NINDS, OBSSR, and NCI intend to publish a Collaborative Research on Addiction at NIH (CRAN) funding opportunity announcement to solicit applications for a Data Analysis, Informatics, and Resource center to oversee and manage the standardization of data collection procedures, provide technical support, ensure quality control, perform integrative data analysis, and coordinate data storage and data sharing activities for a nationwide, multisite, multi-modal, longitudinal cohort study that prospectively examines brain and behavioral development from late childhood (approximately age 9-10) through adolescence into early adulthood. Current primary awardees will be eligible to apply and this new award period will be extended to 7 years in duration.

The NIH Office of Research on Women's Health (ORWH) and participating NIH Institutes and Centers invite institutional career development award applications for Building Interdisciplinary Research Careers in Women's Health (BIRCWH) Career Development Programs, hereafter termed "Programs". Programs will support mentored research career development of junior faculty members, known as BIRCWH Scholars, who have recently completed clinical training or postdoctoral fellowships, and who will be engaged in interdisciplinary basic, translational, behavioral, clinical, and/or health services research relevant to the health of women and, where appropriate, the use of both sexes to better understand the influence of sex as a biological variable on health and disease. This Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) allows appointment of Scholars proposing to serve as the lead investigator of an independent clinical trial; or proposing a separate ancillary clinical trial; or proposing to gain research experience in a clinical trial led by another investigator, as part of their research and career development. The clinical trial must be a NIH-defined clinical trial. Scholars may also propose fundamental research or human subjects research that is not a clinical trial.

Public Affairs Section (PAS) seeks to provide Iraqi youth with educational opportunities through English-language instruction in accordance with Mission Iraq goals. The English Access Micro-scholarship Program for Central and Southern Iraq will provide a foundation of English language skills to non-elite, 13 to 18 year-old students through after-school classes and intensive summer activities over a two-year period. Access Program students also gain an appreciation for American culture and democratic values, increase their ability to participate successfully in the socio-economic development of their countries, and gain the ability to compete for and participate in future U.S. Government-sponsored educational programs. Subject to the availability of funds, the Embassy expects to award a grant up to $380,000 to carry out the English Access Micro-scholarship Program for Central and Southern Iraq over a twenty-four month time frame.

The United States Embassy in Bosnia and Herzegovina, acting through the Office of Public Affairs, is pleased to announce a Notice of funding opportunities for two types of Civic Education programs that address school segregation or other problems that divide students along ethnic lines. These projects should advance Education for Democracy and Hhelp remove obstacles to integration in education. Small grants competition will support projects designed explicitly as home-stay exchange programs to contribute to democracy and human rights education with interaction and the development of tolerance between the ethnically, religiously and geographically diverse communities of Bosnia and Herzegovina. In addition to the core exchange program activities, the mandatory requirement is a component of family engagement in which participants will stay in the homes of fellow participants from different ethnic or religious backgrounds, and engage in volunteer projects in both communities. Priority will be given to innovative programs that bring together youth (ages 12-24) from communities across ethnic, geographical, and administrative lines and engage large number of youth in community improvement activity in each host town. Detailed budget should be expressed in USD, with a maximum amount of $20,000.

The National Council on Disability (NCD) seeks proposals for a report assessing the experiences and outcomes of students with disabilities whose families make use of voucher programs or enroll them in charter schools in lieu of traditional public school. NCD first examined the topic of school choice and vouchers in 2003. NCD again revisited the topic of school choice in 2011 during a regional educational policy forum in Florida, during which time we invited the participation of voucher program administrators, school board members, charter school associations, state education departments, and parents of students with disabilities to share their experiences with NCD. NCD is interested in building upon those public inputs and its 2003 paper on vouchers, this time expanding the scope to include examination of charter schools. The Public Affairs Section (PAS) of the U.S. Embassy in Tbilisi, Georgia is pleased to announce an open competition for assistance awards through this Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) for a pilot Program in Media Literacy. PAS invites organizations to submit proposals for an up-to- 24 months project to improve media literacy skills among young Georgians between the ages of 16 - 24 to include ethnic minorities and people at risk of being socially marginalized. Expected results include an increase of at least 20% in program participants' ability to distinguish trustworthy news from fake news and an increase of at least 20% in those who cross-check the information from the news.

The purpose of this Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) is to provide opportunities for eligible small business concerns (SBCs) to submit STTR grant applications to develop interactive digital media science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) resources that address student career choice and health and medicine topics for: (1) pre-kindergarten to grade 12 (P-12) students and pre- and in-service teachers ("Teachers") or (2) Informal science education (ISE), i.e., outside the classroom, audiences. Interactive digital media (IDM) are defined as products and services on digital computer-based systems which respond to the user's actions by presenting content such as text, moving image, animation, video, audio, and video games. There is a large body of evidence that IDM technology has the potential to support learning in a variety of contexts from primary and secondary schools, to universities, adult education and workplace training. IDM is widely used to train, educate, and encourage behavioral changes in a virtual world format where progressive learning, feedback on success and user control are combined into an interactive and engaging experience. It is anticipated that this STTR FOA will facilitate the translation of new or existing health and medicine-based, P-12 STEM curricula and museum exhibits into educational Interactive Digital Media STEM (IDM STEM) resources that will provide a hands-on, inquiry-based and learning-by-doing experience for students, teachers and the community.

The NSF Research Traineeship (NRT) program is designed to encourage the development and implementation of bold, new, and potentially transformative models for STEM graduate education training. The NRT program seeks proposals that explore ways for graduate students in research-based master's and doctoral degree programs to develop the skills, knowledge, and competencies needed to pursue a range of STEM careers. The program is dedicated to effective training of STEM graduate students in high priority interdisciplinary research areas, through the use of a comprehensive traineeship model that is innovative, evidence-based, and aligned with changing workforce and research needs. For FY2018, proposals are requested in any interdisciplinary research theme of national priority, with special emphasis on two high priority areas: (1) Harnessing the Data Revolution (HDR) and (2) Innovations at the Nexus of Food, Energy, and Water Systems (INFEWS). HDR is expected to continue as a priority research area for FY2019 and FY2020 competitions, along with a new priority area to be announced in 2018. The NRT program addresses workforce development, emphasizing broad participation, and institutional capacity building needs in graduate education. Strategic collaborations with the private sector, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), government agencies, national laboratories, field stations, teaching and learning centers, informal science centers, and academic partners are encouraged.
