New Music USA is supporting music in a new way. We want to create the shortest possible path between the people who make new music and the people who enjoy it. So we've reconfigured five of our past grant programs into a unified channel of support for a wide range of new music projects.* We believe in the artists we support, and we want everyone to hear their music. That's why we're building a new platform to help our funded artists promote themselves, and to help us promote all the projects we fund. Instead of filling out a grant application, you'll create a simple, private project page with all of your work samples and project information on this site. If your project is awarded, New Music USA will publish your project page. Once published, you'll be able to post updates as your project unfolds. The resulting collection of project activity will give site visitors an unmatched experience of the diversity and vitality of new music in the United States. This year, our project grants will award more than $600,000 to 100-150 projects, with awards ranging in size from $250 to $20,000. You can be sure that we always want to support as many great projects with as much money as we can.

The Residency Partnership Program supports ensembles and presenters in building audiences for classical/contemporary, jazz, and world chamber music through residency projects. Funding is specifically aimed at activities that take place in community settings and that are not part of a regular concert series. These activities may include, but are not limited to, clinics, interactive classroom programs, and lecture/demonstrations in libraries, hospitals, senior centers, or similar venues.  Projects must take place in the U.S. or its territories.       The length of the residencies ranges from a minimum of three days to one year. Grants support up to 75 percent of expenses directly connected to the project. The balance must be drawn from other sources, such as cash from other grants, earned income, or an allocation from the organization's general operating funds.

The Gene D. Cohen Award, sponsored by the National Center for Creative Aging (NCCA), recognizes and honors the seminal work of Dr. Gene Cohen, whose research in the field of creativity and aging has shifted the conceptual focus from a problem paradigm to one of promise and potential. Dr. Cohen has inspired us to approach longevity asking what wonders can be achieved, not in spite of age, but because of age. The award is presented annually to a professional whose research in the field of creativity and aging demonstrates these positive attributes. Presented annually at the GSA Annual Scientific Meeting at the Arts and Humanities Reception, the award consists of the following: Travel and lodging (limit to $1,000) to attend the GSA Annual Scientific Meeting GSA Annual Scientific Meeting Registration A program profile included in GSA's Annual Meeting Program, which will be distributed to attendees and posted on the GSA website. Recognition on the NCCA website Recognition by peers at an awards presentation Press release Award nomination is open to any individual who has produced research that demonstrates the benefits of creativity in arts including but not limited to visual arts, music, dance, drama, writing and multi media. Nominees should demonstrate leadership and contributions in the field of creativity and aging through research.

Through Our Town, subject to the availability of funding, the National Endowment for the Arts will provide a limited number of grants, ranging from $25,000 to $200,000, for creative placemaking projects that contribute toward the livability of communities and help transform them into lively, beautiful, and sustainable places with the arts at their core. Our Town will invest in creative and innovative projects in which communities, together with their arts and design organizations and artists, seek to: Improve their quality of life. Encourage greater creative activity. Foster stronger community identity and a sense of place. Revitalize economic development.

The award recipient must come from an economically disadvantaged household, have attended a public school, participated in extracurricular programs including (an/or in addition to) programs supported by the Americans for the Arts (i.e., demonstrate a long term participation in the study of, creation in and/or performance in one or more art forms, including dance, music theatre, literary, visual/media arts), excelled academically, and  formally declared the intent to study and apply economics in their pursuit of higher education and professional career.  This includes the direct study of economics for policy purposes, to applications in the private and public sectors.  The scholarship is open to both recent high school graduates and current college undergraduates who are majoring in economics and/or the arts.

The principal goal of The Shubert Foundation is to support not-for-profit, professional theatre and dance companies in the United States. The program areas of Arts Related Organizations and Education are smaller than those of Theatre and Dance and necessarily limited. The Shubert Foundation awards unrestricted grants for general operating support, rather than funding for specific projects. These grants are awarded exclusively to US organizations, which must have current 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status in order to be eligible for funding. The Foundation provides grants only to organizations that have an established artistic and administrative track record, as well as a history of fiscal responsibility. The Foundation does not make grants to individuals, nor does it provide funds for project support, audience development, direct subsidy of reduced-price admissions, conduit organizations (agencies that disburse funds to individuals or other organizations), renovation projects, loans, capital or endowment campaigns.

The American Academy in Rome invites applications for the Rome Prize competition. One of leading overseas centers for independent study and advanced research in the arts and the humanities. The Academy offers up to thirty fellowships for periods ranging from six months to two years. Rome Prize winners reside at the academy's eleven-acre center in Rome and receive room and board, a private study or studio, and a stipend. Fellowships are awarded in the following fields: -Architecture -Design (including graphic, fashion, interior, lighting, and set design, engineering, urban planning, and other related design fields) -Historic Preservation and Conservation (including architectural design, public policy, and the conservation of works of art) -Landscape Architecture -Literature (** by nomination only) -Musical composition -Visual Arts -Ancient Studies -Medieval Studies -Renaissance and Early Modern Studies -Modern Italian Studies For further information, or to apply, visit the Academy's website at www.aarome.org. The PAJ programwasstarted by the Japan Foundation in 1994 with themission to establish a system for promoting Japanese performing artsinNorth America. The PAJ programsupportsthe initiatives taken by nonprofit organizationsin theUnited States and Canada to provide geographically diverse audiences with greater exposure to Japanese performing arts. PAJ also encourages collaborations between Japanese and American/Canadian artists, which will further an appreciation ofJapanese culture when presented to audiences in the United States and Canada. To realize the above objectives,the PAJ programofferstwo types ofsupport: 1) The TOURINGGRANT assists with the presentation ofJapanese performing arts at multiple locations in theUnited States and/or Canada, with emphasis on locations outside major metropolitan areas where there is little exposure to the Japanese performing arts. 2) The COLLABORATIONGRANT facilitatesthe collaboration ofJapanese and American/Canadian artistsso thattheymay create a new work with the potentialto develop into a touring project and further an appreciation ofJapanese culture when presented to audiences in theUnited States and Canada.

This program supports digitally based research projects in all disciplines of the humanities and related social sciences. It is hoped that projects of successful applicants will help advance digital humanistic scholarship by broadening understanding of its nature and exemplifying the robust infrastructure necessary for creating such works. ACLS Digital Innovation Fellowships are intended to support an academic year dedicated to work on a major scholarly project that takes a digital form. Projects may: Address a consequential scholarly question through new research methods, new ways of representing the knowledge produced by research, or both; Create new digital research resources; Increase the scholarly utility of existing digital resources by developing new means of aggregating, navigating, searching, or analyzing those resources; Propose to analyze and reflect upon the new forms of knowledge creation and representation made possible by the digital transformation of scholarship. ACLS will award up to six Digital Innovation Fellowships in this competition year. Each fellowship carries a stipend of up to $60,000 towards an academic year's leave and provides for project costs of up to $25,000. ACLS does not support creative works (e.g., novels or films), textbooks, straightforward translations, or purely pedagogical projects.

USArtists International (USAI) is committed to ensuring that the impressive range of expression of the performing arts in the United States is represented abroad, and that the creative and professional development of American artists is enhanced through participation at significant international festivals.  Performances at important festivals provide American artists with opportunities for the exchange of ideas and practices with their colleagues in other countries, as well as exposure to new and larger audiences.  It is our hope that participation of exemplary artists from the United States in international festivals will help develop audiences for, and greater appreciation of, the excellence, diversity and vitality of the American performing arts. Through USAI, grants are available to American dance, music and theater ensembles and solo performers that have been invited to perform at significant international festivals anywhere in the world outside of the United States.  

Stage Directors and Choreographers Foundation (SDCF) is now accepting nominations for The Zelda Fichandler Award. This award presents an unrestricTed Grant of $5,000 to an outstanding director or choreographer making an exceptional contribution to the national arts landscape through theatre work in a region. In 2013, the award will honor achievement in the Central region, comprised of Alabama, Arkansas, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, and Wisconsin. With this award, SDCF honors the legacy of the founders of regional theatre and recognizes the profound impact and imagination of theatre directed nationwide. Named after Zelda Fichandler, a founder of the American regional theatre movement, the award celebrates significant achievement in the field, singular creativity and artistry, and a deep investment in a particular region. This award is not for lifetime achievement; the intent is to honor an artist for both accomplishment to date and promise for the future.

Each year, The Kennedy Center/Stephen Sondheim Inspirational Teacher Awards will solicit nominations from the general public and notable public figures, providing the opportunity to submit stories about teachers and professors who made a significant difference in their lives. On March 22, Stephen Sondheim's birthday, a select number of these teachers will each receive The Kennedy Center/Stephen Sondheim Inspirational Teacher Award - $10,000 in appreciation for their contributions to the field of teaching. Awardees will also be showcased, along with the people they inspired, on The Kennedy Center/Stephen Sondheim Inspirational Teacher Awards web site.

University College Cork invites applications for scholarships in the four-year structured PhD programme in Digital Arts and Humanities (DAH). Successful candidates will be registered with the full-time inter-disciplinary structured PhD programme co-ordinated with an all-Irish university consortium. Candidates will pursue their individual research agendas within the program, based on projects developed from proposals which they provide during the application process. These awards are distributed as NDP Presentation Grants  to U.S. nonprofit organizations presenting the works and are designated to support artist fees and travel. Touring Awards are automatically given to all NDP Production Grant recipients. Additionally, up to ten works created independently from the Production Grant process receive Touring Awards through a competitive application process each fall. 

Each year, the Rome Prize is awarded to thirty emerging artists and scholars in the early or middle stages of their careers who represent the highest standard of excellence in the arts and humanities. Prize recipients are invited to Rome for six months or eleven months to immerse themselves in the Academy community where they will enjoy a once in a lifetime opportunity to expand their own professional, artistic, or scholarly pursuits, drawing on their colleagues' erudition and experience and on the inestimable resources that Italy, Europe, the Mediterranean, and the Academy have to offer. Rome Prize winners are the core of the Academy's residential community, which also includes Residents and Visiting Artists and Scholars. Fellows are encouraged to work collegially within and across disciplines in pursuit of their individual artistic and scholarly goals. The Academy gratefully acknowledges the National Endowment for the Humanities for its support of the Rome Prize competition.

The GRAMMY Foundation Grant Program awards grants to organizations and individuals to support research on the impact of music on the human condition. Examples might include the study of the effects of music on mood, cognition and healing, as well as the medical and occupational well-being of music professionals and the creative process underlying music. Priority is given to projects with strong methodological design as well those addressing an important research question.

A fund of $10,000 has been earmarked to support public projects in memory of Doug Dillard and Arthel "Doc" Watson. Of special interest are bluegrass music-related projects and programs that involve education or youth. This is a competitive application process and candidates must meet the Foundation's Grant Application Guidelines. Grants awarded will be announced during IBMA World of Bluegrass week, September 24-28, 2013, with funds available after January 1, 2014.

A partnership of the Cultural Service of the French Embassy, the French-American Cultural Exchange, and the Mid Atlantic Arts Foundation, the French-American Jazz Exchange seeks to foster the creative and professional development of jazz artists from France and the United States through the collaborative investigation of artistic practice and exposure to new audiences, music concepts, and professional relationships.

Each year, the Buffalo Bill Historical Center offers a limited number of research stipends for promising and established visiting western scholars in our fellowship program. Scholars research, write, and develop ideas and manuscripts that expand the horizon of western studies. Fellows may pursue field research in the Cody area (i.e., the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem or the Big Horn Basin and Mountains), or work in the collections of the McCracken Research Library or one of our museum galleries.
