Two awards are granted each year, one in the category of Emerging Leader and one in the category of Distinguished Leader. Successful candidates will have made significant contributions in the areas of policy/advocacy, research, service provision, and/or teaching/mentoring. 1) Policy/Advocacy: This category recognizes individuals who have demonstrated outstanding effort and leadership in policy/advocacy-related activities that improve the welfare of people living with or affected by HIV/AIDS, and/or improve the delivery of prevention services to individuals and communities affected by HIV/AIDS. 2) Research: This category recognizes individuals who have demonstrated outstanding effort and leadership in the conduct, dissemination, and translation of high-quality research in the areas of HIV/AIDS prevention, treatment/care, and/or policy. 3) Service Provision: This category recognizes individuals who have demonstrated outstanding effort and leadership in the delivery of psychological services to people living with or affected by HIV/AIDS, and/or the delivery of technical or support services to community agencies that provide a range of HIV/AIDS-related services to individuals and communities affected by HIV/AIDS. 4) Teaching/Mentoring: This category recognizes individuals who have demonstrated outstanding effort and leadership in educating psychologists or psychology students about HIV/AIDS practice, research, and/or policy.

Clinical Scholars is a three-year, team-based program for a wide variety of health professionals in community, clinical, or academic settings. By the end of the program, fellows will have gained the skills they need to appraise, synthesize, use the best evidence to guide practice and inform policy in addressing complex health problems in their teams, organizations, and communities. We are seeking up to 35 individuals (in teams of three to five) with the potential to become national change leaders in their focus areas and a demonstrated long-term commitment to fostering and achieving health equity. Those selected for this program will engage in: Personal, in-depth leadership training in health equity and community engagement Collaborative work across disciplines and professions to tackle problems that emerge from complex systems in communities Robust and customizable distance-based learning (8-10 hours/month) Required in-person team meetings/activities three times per year Planning and implementation of your team's "Wicked Problem Impact Project" Receipt of grant funds based on team size (from up to $315,000 for a three-person to $525,000 for a five-person team) Mentoring and networking across all Clinical Scholars cohorts, other RWJF leadership programs, and with experts nationwide. This cooperative agreement will establish and maintain an interdisciplinary, multicenter research forum for scientific collaboration and infrastructure building, which will provide national leadership in research designed to improve the behavioral, mental, social, and/or cognitive health and wellbeing of children and adolescents with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and other developmental disabilities. As authorized by Section 399BB of the Autism CARES Act, the research network will determine the evidence-based practices for interventions to improve the behavioral health of individuals with ASD and other developmental disabilities, develop guidelines for those interventions, and disseminate information related to such research and guidelines. The AIR-B Network will be one of two HRSA-supported research networks that will provide national leadership in research to advance the evidence base on effective interventions for children and adolescents with ASD and other developmental disabilities, with AIR-B having a focus on addressing behavioral health and wellbeing. As directed by the FY 2015 Congressional Appropriations for HRSA's Autism CARES Act programs, HRSA is broadening the scope of this funding opportunity to reflect an additional emphasis on addressing disparities in effective interventions and treatment and access to care experienced by underserved minority and rural communities. In particular, applicants should consider diverse ethnic/racial, cultural, linguistic, socioeconomic, and geographic (e.g., rural/urban, tribal) populations for whom there is little evidence regarding the effectiveness of interventions, or for whom access to effective treatments is limited. Applicants should include plans to conduct multi-site research protocols on innovative treatment models, including the use of telehealth networks, to improve behavioral health interventions and treatment for ASD in underserved minority and rural communities. The purpose of this FOA is to bring about decreases in IPV risk factors and increases in IPV protective factors by increasing strategic data-driven planning and sustainable use of community and societal level primary prevention activities that address the social determinants of health (SDOH) and are based on the best available evidence. In addition, the FOA will help to further develop the evidence-base for community and societal-level programs and policy efforts to prevent IPV by increasing the use of evaluation and existing surveillance data at the state and local level. Another goal of the FOA is for SDVCs to support the integration of primary prevention goals and action steps throughout the state and local level IPV planning and capacity building activities. The aim of integrating primary prevention into state planning is to help states leverage diverse funding and partnerships to increase the implementation of primary prevention above and beyond DELTA funding. DELTA Impact requires SDVCs to focus on the implementation of 3 to 4 evidence-informed programs and policy efforts within three specific focus areas. SDVCs will also focus on developing or enhancing an already-existing State Action Plan (SAP) to increase the use of data for planning and the prioritization of primary prevention of IPV based on any existing health inequities within their jurisdictions. SDVCs will be expected to participate in the national evaluation of the FOA and provide leadership at the state and national level.

The Brain & Behavior Research Foundation recognizes outstanding research leadership and contributions to mental health research with a number of annual prizes.

This targeted 5-year cooperative agreement is to be awarded to create a national center of excellence to develop, implement and evaluate curriculum in child welfare agency settings that will: Support the child welfare workforce to better understand social and emotional needs of children and families involved in the child welfare system. Support the child welfare workforce to better screen and assess for social and emotional needs of children and families. Support the child welfare workforce to understand the effective interventions and active ingredients of those interventions and how to ensure children and families receive those interventions. Increase exposure to active ingredients and Evidence Based Practices for agency staff through enhanced curriculum and practicums. Provide professional development opportunities for agency staff by developing, delivering, and evaluating course offerings, continuing education, and certificate programs aimed at addressing the shortage of child welfare practitioners prepared to deliver evidence based child and family treatment. Provide curriculum aimed at assisting case managers to make excellent decisions about how to refer and evaluate the effectiveness of the services provided to the children and families in their care. Develop decision making tools for agency leadership that might assist them in assessing their current mental health service array. These tools would provide direction about the cost and effectiveness of the mental health services in their current service array, assist the administrator in evaluating if the current mental health services are achieving intended outcomes, and provide guidance on best practice in implementing evidence based treatment services.

The APF Alexander Gralnick Research Investigator Prize recognizes "exceptional individuals working in the area of serious mental illness," including but not limited to schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and paranoia (delusional disorder). The prize was established to honor the late Alexander Gralnick, MD, and to reflect the breadth of his accomplishments and contributions in the field of serious mental illness. Dr. Gralnick was a Life Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association, and he received the American Psychiatric Association's Distinguished Service Award and the Service to the Mentally Ill Award of the World Association for Psychosocial Rehabilitation. The prize aims to carry on Dr. Gralnick's legacy by facilitating research by doctoral-level investigators in the area of serious mental illness. Goals: To encourage psychologists to assume a leadership role for psychology in the area of serious mental illness.To encourage the training of future psychologists to become leaders in this field.To provide funding for recipients to ensure that psychologists work to advance understanding and treatment for those who are affected by serious mental illnesses.

CAREER: The Faculty Early Career Development (CAREER) Program is a Foundation-wide activity that offers the National Science Foundation's most prestigious awards in support of junior faculty who exemplify the role of teacher-scholars through outstanding research, excellent education and the integration of education and research within the context of the mission of their organizations. Such activities should build a firm foundation for a lifetime of leadership in integrating education and research. As defined in the DD Act of 2000, the term "developmental disabilities" means a severe, chronic disability of an individual that is attributable to a mental or physical impairment or combination of mental and physical impairments that are manifested before the individual attains age 22 and are likely to continue indefinitely. Developmental disabilities result in substantial limitations in three or more of the following functional areas: self-care, receptive and expressive language, learning, mobility, self-direction, capacity for independent living and economic self-sufficiency. The DD Act of 2000 identifies a number of significant findings, including: Disability is a natural part of the human experience that does not diminish the right of individuals with developmental disabilities to enjoy the opportunity for independence, productivity, integration and inclusion into the community. Individuals whose disabilities occur during their developmental period frequently have severe disabilities that are likely to continue indefinitely. Individuals with developmental disabilities often require lifelong specialized services and assistance, provided in a coordinated and culturally competent manner by many agencies, professionals, advocates, community representatives and others to eliminate barriers and to meet the needs of such individuals and their families. The DD Act of 2000 also promotes the best practices and policies presented below: Individuals with developmental disabilities, including those with the most severe developmental disabilities, are capable of achieving independence, productivity, integration and inclusion into the community, and often require the provision of services, supports and other assistance to achieve such. The purpose of the National Chronic Disease Self-Management Education (CDSME) Resource Center will be to provide leadership, expert guidance, and resources to promote the value of and increase access to evidence-based self-management programs; and to serve as a national clearinghouse and disseminate resources and best practices to increase the capacity of states, aging, disability and public health networks and their partners to implement and sustain CDSME programs.

The Miami Initiative for Advancing, Mentoring and Investing in Women (M.I.A.M.I. WOMEN) awarded nearly $104,000 in Giving Circle grants to students and faculty during the annual Leadership Symposium on April 12, 2018. Finalists pitched their projects the previous evening at the inaugural Hawk Tank event. This grant fund is open again for the 2018-2019 cycle.

The goals of the annual program are to encourage psychologists to assume a leadership role for psychology in the area of serious mental illness; encourage the training of future psychologists to become leaders in the field; and provide funding for recipients so as to ensure that psychologists work to advance understanding and treatment for those who are affected by serious mental illnesses.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), Center for Mental Health Services (CMHS) is accepting applications for fiscal year (FY) 2018 Statewide Consumer Network Program grants (Short Title: SCN). The purpose of this program is to improve efforts to address the needs of adults with serious mental illness (SMI) by developing and/or expanding peer support services, peer leadership, and peer engagement strategies statewide. The population of focus is adults with SMI, including those who are underserved and under-represented (e.g., consumers from ethnic, racial, and cultural minority groups); veterans; individuals who are chronically homeless; individuals with co-occurring disorders (COD) ; sexual orientation and gender identity minorities; and individuals who have been involved in the criminal justice system. It is expected that this program will increase access to and quality of mental health services for adults with SMI; increase the sustainability of consumer-operated organizations; and enhance state capacity and infrastructure to support the recovery of adults with SMI and their families. The SCN grant program builds upon prior work of SAMHSA to establish recovery-oriented, consumer-driven services for adults with SMI.

The overall purpose of the NIAAA Alcohol Research Center program is to provide leadership in conducting and fostering interdisciplinary, collaborative research on a wide variety of topics relevant to the Institutes mission. These topics include, but are not limited to: the nature, etiology, genetics, diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of alcohol use disorders and their biomedical, psychosocial, and economic consequences across the lifespan.
