The Public Scholar Program supports well-researched books in the humanities intended to reach a broad readership. Although humanities scholarship can be specialized, the humanities also strive to engage broad audiences in exploring subjects of general interest. They seek to deepen our understanding of the human condition as well as current conditions and contemporary problems. The Public Scholar Program aims to encourage scholarship that will be of broad interest and have lasting impact. Such scholarship might present a narrative history, tell the stories of important individuals, analyze significant texts, provide a synthesis of ideas, revive interest in a neglected subject, or examine the latest thinking on a topic. Books supported by this program must be grounded in humanities research and scholarship. They must address significant humanities themes likely to be of broad interest and must be written in a readily accessible style.

The foundation will award scholarships of up to $5,000 to journalists from the United States or Canada to take religion courses at any accredited college, university, or seminary. The program is open to all full-time journalists working in general-circulation news media, including reporters, editors, designers, copy editors, editorial writers, news directors, researchers, and producers. Journalists can choose any religion, spirituality, or ethics course. Scholarships can cover expenses related to tuition, registration, parking, and books. Online and travel classes are also eligible as long as travel costs are part of the curriculum. Scholarships must be used within three months of the award date.

The Anne Emery Kyllo Professional Scholarship of the American Music Therapy Association has been established in Anne's memory by the Emery and Kyllo families through The Denver Foundation to support professional music therapists in their efforts to expand their training and professional interactions through participation in continuing education opportunities Award:  Three (3) cash scholarships of $500 each will be awarded annually for use towards CMTE credits. The award may be used for national and/or regional conferences, CMTE (continuing music therapy education) courses, and/or other continuing education courses that meet the Educational Activity guidelines as established by the Certification Board for Music Therapists (CBMT). CBMT guidelines state that educational activities must be at least five contact hours in duration, and must relate to the CBMT Examination Content Outline, as published in the CBMT Recertification Manual. The award may not be used for undergraduate coursework. The award may be used for post-undergraduate coursework as it relates to the clinical practice of music therapy.

Journalists working for religious media-including media supporting or promoting a particular religion, faith community or religious group-are not eligible. Scholarships are awarded as stipends of up to $5,000 each. They may cover: tuition, books, application fees, registration fees, lab fees, child care, activity fees and other expenses related to the course.  Applicants are funded for no more than four courses during the project, and only one course per application period (now through July 31, 2014). Recipients must submit a 1,000-word maximum report detailing the course, benefits, challenges, course grade and syllabus within 30 days of receiving official grade.

The Public Affairs Section of the U.S. Consulate General Karachi (PAS Karachi) is pleased to announce an open competition for an assistance award through this Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO), contingent on funding availability, through the Public Diplomacy Grants Program. This opportunity provides funding to an organization to manage the below-mentioned programs that will be executed by the Centre for Excellence in Journalism (CEJ) at the Institute for Business Administration (IBA) to support scholarships, internships and journalism training workshops. The Centre for Excellence in Journalism (CEJ) offers Pakistan's only professionally-focused master's degree in journalism. The 1.5-year long Masters of Science in Journalism (MSJ) allows students to immerse themselves in all forms of journalism - digital, audio and video - and gain practical experience in a newsroom under the guidance of experienced instructors. This award will provide opportunities for CEJ students, including eight-week internships at U.S. media outlets in the final semester of their MSJ degree; partial scholarships (50% of tuition) to attend CEJ; and (3) thematic training led by specialists and professional journalists from the U.S. who will be brought to CEJ to lead the workshops.

As part of broader university-wide diversity and inclusion efforts, the Office of the President and the Office for the Advancement of Research and Scholarship (OARS) have issued a special call for proposals to conduct research, scholarship, or creative activities in the areas of social justice, human rights, diversity, and inclusion. Proposals may be submitted in any of these areas, but must address a scholarly question that will lead to testable objectives or measurable outcomes.

This program supports digitally based research projects in all disciplines of the humanities and related social sciences. It is hoped that projects of successful applicants will help advance digital humanistic scholarship by broadening understanding of its nature and exemplifying the robust infrastructure necessary for creating such works. ACLS Digital Innovation Fellowships are intended to support an academic year dedicated to work on a major scholarly project that takes a digital form. Projects may: Address a consequential scholarly question through new research methods, new ways of representing the knowledge produced by research, or both; Create new digital research resources; Increase the scholarly utility of existing digital resources by developing new means of aggregating, navigating, searching, or analyzing those resources; Propose to analyze and reflect upon the new forms of knowledge creation and representation made possible by the digital transformation of scholarship. ACLS will award up to six Digital Innovation Fellowships in this competition year. Each fellowship carries a stipend of up to $60,000 towards an academic year's leave and provides for project costs of up to $25,000. ACLS does not support creative works (e.g., novels or films), textbooks, straightforward translations, or purely pedagogical projects.

Together with University Advancement, the Office for the Advancement of Research & Scholarship (OARS) is rolling out an new crowdfunding platform called HawksNest. Through HawksNest, alumni, family, and friends of the university can directly support the research, scholarship, and service projects of Miami University students, faculty, and staff. This is how HawksNest works: * Any Miami University student, faculty, or staff member may complete an online application to have a project considered for funding. * An internal review team assesses applications and posts approved projects on HawksNest for a maximum of 45 days. * Potential donors visit the site to learn about and pledge funds to approved projects. * Once a funding goal has been met, the project can begin! * Project managers use the site to keep donors up-to-date with information on the project's progress.

Digital Humanities Advancement Grants (DHAG) support digital projects throughout their lifecycles, from early start-up phases through implementation and long-term sustainability. Experimentation, reuse, and extensibility are hallmarks of this program, leading to innovative work that can scale to enhance scholarly research, teaching, and public programming in the humanities. This program is offered twice per year. Proposals are welcome for digital initiatives in any area of the humanities. Through a special partnership with NEH, the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) anticipates providing additional funding to this program to encourage innovative collaborations between museum or library professionals and humanities professionals to advance preservation of, access to, use of, and engagement with digital collections and services. IMLS and NEH may jointly fund some DHAG projects that involve collaborations with museums and/or libraries. Digital Humanities Advancement Grants may involve * creating or enhancing experimental, computationally-based methods, techniques, or infrastructure that contribute to the humanities; * pursuing scholarship that examines the history, criticism, and philosophy of digital culture and its impact on society, or explores the philosophical or practical implications and impact of digital humanities in specific fields or disciplines; or * revitalizing and/or recovering existing digital projects that promise to contribute substantively to scholarship, teaching, or public knowledge of the humanities.

The award recipient must come from an economically disadvantaged household, have attended a public school, participated in extracurricular programs including (an/or in addition to) programs supported by the Americans for the Arts (i.e., demonstrate a long term participation in the study of, creation in and/or performance in one or more art forms, including dance, music theatre, literary, visual/media arts), excelled academically, and  formally declared the intent to study and apply economics in their pursuit of higher education and professional career.  This includes the direct study of economics for policy purposes, to applications in the private and public sectors.  The scholarship is open to both recent high school graduates and current college undergraduates who are majoring in economics and/or the arts.

The Laura Bassi Scholarship was established by Editing Press in 2018 with the aim of providing editorial assistance to postgraduates and junior academics whose research focuses on neglected topics of study, broadly construed, within their disciplines.

America's Media Makers (AMM) grants support the following formats: * interactive digital media; * film and television projects; and * radio projects. Interactive digital media may be websites, games, mobile applications, virtual environments, streaming video, podcasts, or other digital formats. Film and television projects may be single programs or a series addressing significant figures or events and drawing their content from humanities scholarship. The programs must be intended for national distribution. Radio projects may involve single programs, limited series, or segments within an ongoing program. They may also develop new humanities content to augment existing radio programming or add greater historical background or humanities analysis to the subjects of existing programs. They may be intended for regional or national distribution. NEH encourages projects that feature multiple formats to engage the public in the exploration of humanities ideas. Proposed projects might include complementary components that expand or deepen the audience's understanding of a subject: for example, museum exhibitions, book/film discussion programs, or other formats that engage audiences in new ways. America's Media Makers grants may not, however, be used to support programs' general operating costs. Grant Categories Development grants enable media producers to collaborate with scholars to develop humanities content and to prepare programs for production. Grants should result in a script or a design document and should also yield a detailed plan for outreach and public engagement in collaboration with a partner organization or organizations. Production grants support the production and distribution of digital projects, films, television programs, radio programs, and related programs that promise to engage the public.

With the goal of promoting undergraduate research, scholarship and creative activity in Arts and Humanities education, the Arts and Humanities Division of the Council on Undergraduate Research will offer financial support for faculty to present on the process and/or results of undergraduate research at regional or national Arts and/or Humanities conferences. The awards will be from $600 and up to three will be awarded for presentations that have been accepted by Feb. 10, 2015, to be presented (or which have been presented) in the fall of 2014 or spring of 2015 (by June 1, 2015).

Media@McGill is a hub of interdisciplinary research, scholarship and public outreach on issues in media, technology and culture, located in the Department of Art History and Communication Studies at McGill University in Montreal, Canada. Media@McGill offers Postdoctoral Fellowships to promising scholars engaging in media-related research, as defined in Media@McGill's mission statement. Fellows are provided with a workspace, and are expected to take an active role in the research activities and academic life of Media@McGill (participation in conferences, seminars, etc.). They may also have the possibility of teaching a course within the Department of Art History and Communication Studies at McGill. Eligibility: The Media@McGill Postdoctoral Fellowship is open to both national and international scholars who completed their doctoral degrees in a university other than McGill no earlier than June 1, 2010. Candidates must have received their PhD by May 1, 2014. Fluency in English is essential; working knowledge of French is an asset. Value and Duration: The stipend for the Media@McGill Postdoctoral Fellowship is $45,000 CAD for 12 months (this includes a travel research stipend) beginning in the first week of September 2014.
