The DePaul University Humanities Center (DHC) is inviting applications for Visiting Fellows for 2020-2021. All applicants must have a Ph.D. or equivalent, and research projects must be in the humanities. International applications will be considered. Fellowships may run for nine months (from September 2020 to June 2021) or six months (from January 2021 to June 2021). During their tenure, Visiting Fellows are required to make an intellectual contribution to the DePaul community and participate in the programming and activities of the DHC and the university. We are especially interested in applications that involve a project around the theme of "Age," broadly construed. All applications regardless of topic will be considered, but preference will be given to applicants who draw connections between their proposed project and the 2020-21 DHC theme, "Age." NB: The DHC will be hosting events that touch on such topics as the analog age and the era of cassette tapes; child liberation; birth & infancy; the juvenile justice system; the gendering of age; childhood, games, and gaming; and sexuality and privacy in the golden years. Ultimately, we are interested in interdisciplinary, creative, innovative projects that take up the theme of "Age."

This funding partnership between the National Science Foundation (NSF) and the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) supports projects to develop and advance knowledge concerning dynamic language infrastructure in the context of endangered human languages-languages that are both understudied and at risk of falling out of use. Made urgent by the imminent loss of roughly half of the approximately 7000 currently used languages, this effort aims to exploit advances in information technology to build computational infrastructure for endangered language research. The program supports projects that contribute to data management and archiving, and to the development of the next generation of researchers. Funding can support fieldwork and other activities relevant to the digital recording, documentation and analysis, and archiving of endangered language data, including the preparation of lexicons, grammars, text samples, and databases. Funding will be available in the form of one- to three-year senior research grants, fellowships from six to twelve months, and conference proposals. Note: a conference proposal should generally be submitted at least a year in advance of the scheduled date of the conference. Europeana Research has allocated a budget of EUR 25,000 for events, such as conferences, workshops, series of seminars, summer schools. The aim is to facilate the dialogue between researchers and cultural heritage professionals around the theme: Digital Cultural Heritage for Open Science. The main organising institution must be based in the European Union, but you can also apply as a network.

The mission of the Consortium for Applied Studies in Jewish Education (CASJE) is to stimulate and support the work of researchers, practitioners, and funders who believe that evidence should drive decision-making in Jewish education. To that end, CASJE is inviting applications for research that can make a difference in how Jewish education is practiced. Two grants of up to $30,000 will be awarded in support of time-concentrated research connected to the consortium's areas of focus, which include Jewish educational leadership, Jewish early-childhood education, Hebrew language education, Israel education, and the career trajectories of Jewish educators. Only empirical research will be funded; conceptual inquiries or literature reviews are not eligible for funding.

The Conference on College Composition and Communication is inviting proposals for its Research Initiative, which is designed to advance the organization's mission to advocate for broad and evolving definitions of literacy, communication, rhetoric, and writing (including multi-modal discourse, digital communication, and diverse language practices) and empower individuals and communities through bold, creative research. Through the program, grants of up to $10,000 will be awarded in support of proposals designed to investigate key challenges faced by literacy, communication, rhetoric and writing instructors and administrators in their classrooms and programs. Proposals should directly address the impact that the research might have on disciplinary and public discourse about these topics and  convey results in at least two final products: one that is addressed to a scholarly audience of researchers and teachers in the field, and one for a clearly specified audience beyond those in the field.

The Embassy of the United States of America in Argentina invites proposal submissions to create a curriculum for English language students of intermediate and advanced ability to study both English and journalism, based on the UNESCO publication Journalism, 'Fake News' and Disinformation: A Handbook for Journalism Education and Training ("Curriculum"). I. To that end, the foundation is inviting applications for the Marilynn Thoma Fellowship and the Thoma Foundation Research and Travel Awards. Through the programs, the foundation provides annual pre-doctoral and postdoctoral fellowships in support of projects and research initiatives that will advance the field of Spanish colonial art. Scholars may come from any discipline, but all projects must relate to the study of art and art history. Projects will be considered from all of Spanish colonial Latin America and the Caribbean, however the foundation will give strong preference to projects that make specific contributions to the history of painting and sculpture in colonial South America.

To that end, the foundation is inviting applications to its annual Bridge to Independence Award Program. Created in 2015, the program promotes talented early-career scientists by facilitating their transition to research independence and providing grant funding at the start of their professorships. Through the program, grants of $495,000 over three years will be awarded to senior postdoctoral fellows who intend to seek a tenure-track faculty position during the upcoming academic year. The award will be activated upon assumption of a tenure-track professorship at a U.S. or Canadian research institution.

As a part of the Google News Initiative's $300M commitment to help journalism thrive in the digital age, we've launched GNI Innovation Challenges to support projects that drive digital innovation and develop new business models. The GNI will fund a set of projects from around the world that meet specified criteria, with the intent of producing learnings and thought leadership that can be shared with the wider industry.

Proposals will be accepted for a minimum of $75,000 and a maximum of $100,000 to partner with RELO Pakistan to convene an "International English Language Teacher Education Forum" that will include presentations, workshops, and symposia on best practices in English Language Teaching (ELT) and the professional development of Pakistani English language teachers and researchers. The Forum will gather alumni from RELO programs and Pakistani English language teaching professionals across Pakistan from a cross-section of instructional and institutional levels to initiate and sustain meaningful professional dialogues. The Forum will also be a platform for the RELO to work with members of existing organizations (and/or parties interested in forming new associations) to reflect on the current status of professional English language teachers' associations in Pakistan. RELO Islamabad has a vested interest in an active and healthy professional teachers' organization in Pakistan. Teachers' associations can be important partners to identify need for programming, can act as conveners to facilitate programs that address needs, and can greatly extend the reach of RELO programs through a country-wide network. The applicant may administer sub-grants for regional conferences and assist in supporting the promotion of viable new and/or existing professional English teachers' associations in Pakistan.

The goal of the U.S. Embassy's Cultural Grants Program is to support programs that share the richness and diversity of American culture with the Bosnian public and to promote mutual understanding and cultural dialogue between the United States and Bosnia and Herzegovina. Grants generally range between $1,000 and $15,000 are awarded to non-profit organizations and institutions for artistic and cultural performances, guest speakers/directors/performers, the rights to American works, exhibits, workshops, etc., that further the goals of the program. Grant proposals are reviewed on a rolling basis, and proposals should be submitted 3-6 months before the planned event or activity.

This project will provide two separate streams of English training, one for journalists and one for export-oriented business professionals, for the purpose of giving both audiences the necessary language skills to communicate more effectively. For journalists, the project will enable participants to more effectively research and develop stories in English, and to represent current events in Afghanistan to a larger international audience. For export-oriented business professionals, the course will enhance their ability to engage in relationship-building and transactions with other English speakers, with the intent of boosting international trade. The successful applicant is expected to administer and conduct English courses for each group, separately, over a 12-month period to at least 80 participants for each of the two separate streams. The courses will include topics and vocabulary relevant to each audience, and will improve participants' English ability in reading, listening, speaking, and writing. To target the skills development of women, gender balance among participants will be taken into consideration in the selection process.

The Sofja Kovalevskaja Award allows you to spend five years building up a working group and working on a high-profile, innovative research project of your own choice at a research institution of your own choice in Germany.

A proposal that applies anthropological methods to a social problem but does not propose how that problem provides an opportunity to make a theory-testing and/or theory expanding contribution to anthropology will be returned without review. The Public Affairs Section (PAS) of the U.S. Embassy in Kabul, Afghanistan, is pleased to announce an open competition for eligible organizations to submit applications to carry out a program to teach English for Specific Purposes (ESP) to select Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) employees. The successful applicant is expected to administer and conduct ESP courses at the intermediate and advanced levels to select employees of the MFA. The recipient will also be expected to administer TOEFL iBT prep courses. This project aims to provide MFA employees with the necessary language skills to communicate in English at the intermediate and advanced levels. The course will introduce topics and vocabulary relevant to foreign affairs professionals into the course curriculum. This is a 12-month project for 120 participants (60 participants per each 6-month semester) which will improve participants' overall English ability in terms of reading, listening, speaking, writing, and presentation skills.

The U.S. Embassy's Public Affairs Section in Moscow (PAS Moscow) announces an open competition for organizations to submit applications to carry out a program to administer the FY 2019-2020 English Language Teaching Support. Please carefully follow all instructions below. The U.S. Embassy in Moscow invites proposal submissions for a cooperative agreement to provide technical and logistical support for English Language Programming from the English Language Office (ELO) in Russia. Award recipients will consult closely with the English Language Officer in PAS Moscow throughout the development, implementation, and evaluation of each English Language Program. Each English Language Program professionally develops teachers, increases the English language skills of students, or assists an expert to professionally develop other teachers of English in Russia. These include, but are not limited to: Umbrella and National Association of Teachers' of English) NATE conferences, ETA support to visit English Access camps, Teacher Associations' and USG alumni support, travel of Russian English teachers to TESOL Convention and other international conferences, and targets of opportunity. The grantee will be responsible for providing logistical support during major ELO events and projects in Russia in the form of venue negotiations and arrangements, transportation, transfers, hotel and meal arrangements, purchasing of materials and supplies, and other technical and/or logistical support, as directed by PAS Moscow. The Grantee will be required to provide the Embassy with program account records on a regular basis.

The Public Affairs Section of the U.S. Embassy Moscow (PAS Moscow) announces an open competition for organizations to submit applications to carry out a program to administer the FY 2019-2020 English Language Exchanges Support grant. The grantee facilitates short-term exchange opportunities for Russian students and teachers. Please carefully follow all instructions below. Award recipients will consult closely with the English Language Officer in PAS Moscow throughout the development, implementation, and evaluation of each Exchange Program. These include, but are not limited to: cultural, professional, sports, and academic exchange visits to the U.S. for Access and Advance teachers and students. The grantee will be responsible for providing logistical support during each exchange: planning, organizing and implementing professional trips to the U.S. as an enhancement activity for the existing program participants (Advance) or supporting participation of other selected participants (sports, etc.), providing logistical, travel and program arrangements, including chaperoning the group and providing all kinds of support needed to make the programs successful, as directed by PAS Moscow. The Grantee will be required to provide the Embassy with program account records on a regular basis.

The Waterloo Centre for German Studies offers travel grants (usually ranging between $500 and $750) to full-time graduate and undergraduate students who will be participating in a recognized institutional, Canadian-organized German language or cultural studies program abroad. (The program can be in Austria, Germany, or German-speaking Switzerland.) The travel grants are available to students in all disciplines. Deadline for applications is March 1, 2019.

The National Institute on Deafness and Other Communication Disorders (NIDCD) invites applications for Clinical Research Center Grants designed to advance the diagnosis, prevention, treatment, and amelioration of human communication disorders. For this announcement, Clinical Research is defined as research involving individuals with communication disorders or data/tissues from individuals with a communication disorder. Examples of such research include but are not limited to, studies of the prevention, pathogenesis, pathophysiology, diagnosis, treatment, management or epidemiology of a disease or disorder of hearing, balance, smell, taste, voice, speech, or language. Applications may propose a clinical trial but are not required to (optional).

The Miami Initiative for Advancing, Mentoring and Investing in Women (M.I.A.M.I. WOMEN) awarded nearly $104,000 in Giving Circle grants to students and faculty during the annual Leadership Symposium on April 12, 2018. Finalists pitched their projects the previous evening at the inaugural Hawk Tank event. This grant fund is open again for the 2018-2019 cycle.
