    Individual translators who meet the publication requirements that are listed below are eligible to apply. Applicants must be citizens or permanent residents of the United States. An individual may submit only one application for FY 2015 funding.     The Public Affairs Section of the U.S. Embassy in Islamabad announces an open competition for a Cooperative Agreement to design and implement a U.S. Cultural Immersion Institute for English Access Microscholarship Program Teachers and Students from Pakistan and India for two to three weeks during the summer of 2014. Institute program activity cannot take place during Ramadan (approximately June 28 through July 27, 2014). Non-profit organizations or academic institutions meeting the provisions described in Internal Revenue Code section 26 USC 501(c)(3) may submit proposals to design and implement this program.     The International Literacy Association sponsors the Constance McCullough Award as a way to encourage international professional development activities. The $4,000 grant is awarded annually to assist an ILA member in the investigation of reading-related problems and to encourage international professional development activities that are carried out in countries outside of North America. The award represents a specific means for working toward as many as three articulated goals of the association, including advocacy, professional development, and emerging global issues. 1) Advocacy: Through the award, the association seeks to promote universal access to literacy and provide leadership in support of adequate funding for literacy programs on an international basis. 2) Professional Development: The association seeks to enhance and improve the professional development of literacy educators on an international basis that supports programs and processes in response to expressed needs and that responds quickly to identified professional needs. 3) Emerging Global Issues: The association seeks to identify and provide leadership on such emerging globally significant issues as access to primary education for all, access to current materials, and assessment of literacy levels. Any ILA member is eligible to submit a proposal, remembering that the Constance M. McCullough bequest to ILA is designated for use in international professional development activities undertaken in countries outside North America.     Proposals will be accepted for a minimum of $75,000 and a maximum of $100,000 to partner with RELO Pakistan to convene an "International English Language Teacher Education Forum" that will include presentations, workshops, and symposia on best practices in English Language Teaching (ELT) and the professional development of Pakistani English language teachers and researchers. The Forum will gather alumni from RELO programs and Pakistani English language teaching professionals across Pakistan from a cross-section of instructional and institutional levels to initiate and sustain meaningful professional dialogues. The Forum will also be a platform for the RELO to work with members of existing organizations (and/or parties interested in forming new associations) to reflect on the current status of professional English language teachers' associations in Pakistan. RELO Islamabad has a vested interest in an active and healthy professional teachers' organization in Pakistan. Teachers' associations can be important partners to identify need for programming, can act as conveners to facilitate programs that address needs, and can greatly extend the reach of RELO programs through a country-wide network. The applicant may administer sub-grants for regional conferences and assist in supporting the promotion of viable new and/or existing professional English teachers' associations in Pakistan.

    The Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship is accepting applications for U.S. students studying abroad in 2018.The Gilman scholarship is a U.S. Department of State grant program that enables students with limited finances to study or intern abroad. The scholarship is open to U.S. students who receive the Federal Pell Grant at a two-year or four-year college or university to participate in education or intern abroad programs across the globe. The Gilman is a generous scholarship that allows students to go abroad when they normally cannot afford to," Howard said. "Additionally, after being awarded the scholarship I received invitations to take advantage of the many services the scholarship provided that help students get ready to go abroad, how to acclimate while abroad, and how to readjust when they get back. There is also a strong support system with alumni and more opportunities to stay involved. I don't think that there is any reason not to apply if you're eligible!" Award amounts will vary depending on the length of study and student need. Applicants who are studying a critical need language while abroad in a country in which the language is predominantly spoken can apply for a supplemental award of up to $3,000, for a combined total of $8,000.

    The Public Affairs Section of the U.S. Embassy Moscow (PAS Moscow) announces an open competition for organizations to submit applications to carry out a program to administer the FY 2019-2020 English Language Exchanges Support grant. The grantee facilitates short-term exchange opportunities for Russian students and teachers. Please carefully follow all instructions below. Award recipients will consult closely with the English Language Officer in PAS Moscow throughout the development, implementation, and evaluation of each Exchange Program. These include, but are not limited to: cultural, professional, sports, and academic exchange visits to the U.S. for Access and Advance teachers and students. The grantee will be responsible for providing logistical support during each exchange: planning, organizing and implementing professional trips to the U.S. as an enhancement activity for the existing program participants (Advance) or supporting participation of other selected participants (sports, etc.), providing logistical, travel and program arrangements, including chaperoning the group and providing all kinds of support needed to make the programs successful, as directed by PAS Moscow. The Grantee will be required to provide the Embassy with program account records on a regular basis.
